Smart will soon offer LTE WIFI sharing with the new SMART Pocket Wifi device

Smart Communication Inc. (SMART), the first and only Long Term Evolution (LTE) operator in the Philippines, announced earlier that it will soon make available the SMART LTE Pocket WIFI, a device which will enable users to enjoy LTE speeds even on non-LTE enabled gadgets.

According to Smart Broadband Internet and Data Services Head Lloyd Manaloto, the portable WiFi router brings the power of LTE even closer to millions of Filipinos as it extends its LTE strategy even to non-SMART subscribers.

According to an April 2012 study by market analytics firm GFK, the telco executive said that 99.7% of all smartphones in the Philippines today are WiFi-enabled. This, as he says, puts the number of potential users who could benefit from the LTE Pocket WiFi “in the millions”.

Do you want to try and experience the real deal? Find LTE stickers from various establishments in Metro Manila. Initial areas where the stickers have been distributed include Hard Rock Cafe at Glorietta 3, The Old Spaghetti House along Valero St. in Makati, Barcino restobar at Fort Bonifacio Taguig. TGIF at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas and Orchard Road restaurant at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

For those interested to know more about the SMART LTE Pocket Wifi, Smart has put up an online sign-up page at Pricing and availability will be announced early October.

SMART commercially launched LTE last August and is being offered on Plan 3500. The package includes a free LTE dongle which can be used on an unlimited basis until October 25,2012.
