Smart partners with Cebu Pacific to welcome tourists with complimentary SMART LTE Tourist Sim with free data!

In a bid to bring a competitive advantage to their services, telecom giant Smart Communications and airline Cebu Pacific has strengthened their partnership by launching a new SIM card specially made for international tourists so they can surf the Internet while in the country.

The move is a smart effort to capitalize on the influx of Asian tourists to the country, which welcomed a total of 1.78 million tourists from January to March this year. A big percentage of this number is from people that come from Japan, China and South Korea.

Called the Cebu Pacific-Smart LTE Tourist SIM, the two companies will be starting the use of the SIM starting July 2017 as they will be offered in Philippine-bound Cebu Pacific flights from East Asian countries like Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. This sim can be used and activated as soon as they arrive at their destination. Apart from in-flight offers, the SIM cards can also be seen in the major airports and travel fairs in major East Asian cities.

The SIM card is mainly a thank you of Cebu Pacific to international travelers for patronizing the airline, which has been hailed as one of the fastest growing companies in the continent. Using Smart’s reliable LTE network, it will be easier than ever for tourists to travel through the Philippines. They can access their email and social media apps like Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram, hail a cab using ridesharing applications, search for alternative destinations and order food to their hotel room.

The SIM card comes with 1 GB of data. Thirty percent of this data allocation is already loaded and can be used within three days while the rest will be loaded as a reward if the tourist will be able to load up Php 30 and above within that first three days. Apart from that, the Cebu Pacific-Smart Tourism SIM will also come with free access to the streaming site iflix for 30 days, where hit series from different parts of Asia can be watched. Another add-on to this great tourist SIM is the one-time Php 100 discount that can be used on the ride sharing application Uber, making it easier for them to travel from one point to another in Metro Manila.

According to the Alex O. Caeg, SVP and Head of Smart Sales & Distribution, “Smart and Cebu Pacific share the same vision of providing foreign tourists with memorable trips, and what better way to welcome them than with a complimentary Cebu Pacific –Smart LTE Tourist SIM.”

Overall, the Cebu Pacific-Smart Tourism SIM is a great marketing move for the two companies and at the same time, it ensures that the tourists have an enjoyable time in the country. Tourists can upload photos and images on social media or watch TV shows on their smartphones during their free time.

Cebu Pacific and Smart Communications are the leading corporate entities in the airline and telecommunications industry respectively. Cebu Pacific has its headquarters in Pasay City while SMART Communications has its main offices in Makati City.
