Rico’s Lechon opens in MOA
This is a full-scale Cebuano Lechon invasion, folks. Rico’s Lechon opens yet another branch in Mega Manila, this time at the Mall of Asia. The Cebuano institution has been making waves in the metro, with their delicious Lechon fare, and their aggressive expansion.

The new branch is located at the first level of MOA’s South Wing. The Rico’s Lechon MOA is now the fifth branch of the franchise in Luzon, following the store openings of the ones in UP Town Center, Tiendesitas, Glorietta, and BGC.

The MOA branch is huge, with a whopping 200 seat capacity, including an al fresco dining space, perfect for enjoying the nearby cool sea breeze. The interiors take the same cue from the other branches, with eye-catching tropical interiors, wooden furnishings, and homey touches.

Apart from the opening event, media guests were also able to sample a number of new dishes in the Rico’s Lechon menu. People at the event sampled the new sinigang boneless bangus, sizzling chicken steak, and the tortang talong with lechon.

There was also Fried Chicken coated with homestyle sauce, and the lechon fingers with sweet and sour sauce. More shake flavors have been added as well, like mocha, cookies and cream, fruity strawberry, bloody watermelon, and sago at gulaman.

Rico’s Lechon also has new afternoon merienda selections as well, like señor pit lechon mami, lechon arrozcaldo, lechsilog (lechon, sinangag, at itlog), diniguan at puto, and a set of dinuguan, puto, at plain rice.

But of course, the event would not be complete without their trademark lechon, which guests devoured in alarming proportions. Whole pieces of lechon were chopped inside an indoor glass aquarium, while patrons and guests alike watched with mouths a-watering.

There was the classic lechon, roasted to perfection and served with their trademark sinamak vinegar sauce. The spicy lechon variant is also good.

The opening event in MOA was also a well-attended affair. In attendance was Cong. Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto, Meat Concepts Corporation President George Pua, SM Supermalls Chief Operating Officer Steven Tan, and Rico’s Lechon Founder Rico Dionson.

SM Prime Chairman Hans Sy and SM Prime Director Herbert Sy also graced the event with their presence and proved to everyone that even the scions of taipans love a good tasting portion of lechon anytime of the day.
