Palawan and Cebu Included on the 2018 Best Islands in the World List
(Manila, Philippines) Cebu and Palawan are two of the Philippines’ pride. The two island provinces are gifted with some of the best beaches, nicest people and good food. To simply put it, the two provinces are visited frequently by all kinds of travelers and immediately became their favorite.
Many travel websites, blogs, and vlogs include these two island provinces in their must-see destinations. Travel and Leisure Magazine took notice of that, once again this year. Both provinces were included in their 15 Best Islands in the World for 2018.

Palawan landed on the 6th spot this year. It is 5 spots lower from its top spot last year (2017) with 90.04 score. It also got the top spot in 2013. Cebu got the 8th spot this year with a score of 89.10. The decisive factors for this list are sights, natural attractions, activities, friendliness and the significance of a place.

Sadly, Boracay wasn’t included in this years list.
Java, Indonesia stole the top spot from Palawan this year as it was named the Best Island in the World for 2018. The island garnered a score of 95.28. Travel and Leisure Magazine described Java as a place where waterfalls, volcanoes, parks and white-sand beaches are located. They also specified that the island isn’t left behind in terms of modernity. This is the first time that Java was included on the list.

The other countries and places that made the cut are Bali, Indonesia; Lombok, Indonesia; Maldives, Waiheke, New Zealand; Mauritius; Páros, Greece; Tasmania, Australia; Galápagos Islands, Ecuador; Cook Islands; Orkney Islands, Scotland; Maui, Hawaii and Azores, Portugal.
The Philippines is now gaining the attention of many travelers worldwide. These recognitions allow the country to be a top tourist spot. Everyone should be proud of having this recognition but we should also work together in keeping these islands clean to ensure a bright future for local tourism.
