ASUS and Operation Smile visited Iloilo City for a Medical Mission
Need a reason to post all those selfies on social media? Look no further. Continuing until January 2018, #4theSmile campaign is giving selfie enthusiasts the opportunity to put their photos to good use. Using selfies and wefies as a form of donation at 1 piso each, Asus Zenfone 4 users are generating significant funds for Operation Smile to continue providing safe surgery for Filipinos with facial deformities such as cleft lip and palette. Being part of the Zenfone family during a recent medical mission in Iloilo, it was a joy to watch 218 patients benefit from the 1,300,000 photo contributions and counting!
With the Asus ZenFone’s growing presence fostering a fandom around the Philippines, the first ZenFone Concept Store in Visayas region opened in Iloilo City and #TeamOutofTown was there to join the movement. It was an insightful experience being in the company of PixelMaster’s Arlene Donaire, Dail Deri and Ricky Ladia sharing their tips and tricks to achieving your photography goals using the ZenFone 4 Selfie and Max.
Practicing our skills around the city, I was able to meet members of the ZenFone Community, ZenTalk. Local fans of the ZenFone 4 series share a mutual appreciation for its utilities such as the 120-degree wide-angle feature and PRO mode. Created by the IT powerhouse Asus, I am in agreement with the ZenTalks of Iloilo that the series is a steal at its mid-range price point. The community also enables anyone the opportunity to borrow and try out the phones during a photo walk with the Masters! You can find more information at asus.com/zentalk.
Volunteering for Operation Smile as a member of the ZenFone family was a rewarding and raw experience. Media of both lifestyle and tech arrived early morning to QualiMed Hospital to assist in the registration and pre-surgical evaluations of locals with facial deformities. There were many stations in this process with some of us filling forms, translating for doctors, giving out water in 30 degree weather and keeping the children entertained with bubbles and toys. Without treatment, the complications of a cleft palette and/or lips is ongoing and affects a person’s confidence as well as ability to speak and eat. This life changing procedure provided by the charity Operation Smile is rather quick and recovery time is short. Safe surgery is their main goal and with the donations generated by Asus ZenFone users in the #4theSmile campaign, 218 patients received new smiles. Seeing parents hold their children for the first time after treatment was met with the happiest of tears and a dream of a better future.
Giving a smile for Christmas is simple and still possible. Join the ZenFone family in the #4TheSmile Campaign by taking your signature selfie or bringing it in for a wefie with any of the ZenFone 4 series’ phones. Use the hashtags #4theSmile, #UntilWeHeal, #WeLovePhotoPH, #ASUSxOperationSmile and #Zenfone4Selfie and post it on social media! Contributing to the mosaic of selfies is also possible by uploading your photos to welovephoto.ph.
