NAMCYA @ 46 Concert of Winners

Manila, Philippines — On August 23, 2019, Friday, with its genuine intent to share the heart of Filipinos for music through diverse musical heritage, National Music Competitions for Young Artists brings you NAMCYA @ 46 Concert of Winners “Alab ng Musika: Wagi #galingNAMCYA” which will take place at Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater) of Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Celebrating its 46 years of showcasing homegrown Filipino talent, some of NAMCYA winners will be performing on the said concert to share their craft and talent. Some of the winners are: Giancarlo Castrillo Gonzales, a two-time Cellist winner, DYCI Dagalak who has won as Choir Champion multiple times in different local competitions, Nelson dela Cruz, who also won as Most Outstanding Conductor in a competition in Singapore, Pundaquit Virtuosi, a Youth Orchestra that has won multiple times and toured all over the world, Alfonso Bolipata, one of the country’s leading musicians, UST Symphony Orchestra, the resident performing group of CCP reorganized by National Artist Antonio Buenaventura and Dr. Renato Lucas, Principal Cellist of Philharmonic Orchestra for 3 decades and presently the President of NAMCYA, which he himself is a former laureate.

NAMCYA aims not just to encourage Filipinos to present their gift of music to people, but also to honor the nationalism and Philippine culture by fostering of diverse musical heritage. Through their training and competitions, young artists get to improve and advance on their skills as performers as well as broaden their knowledge and perspective in music education.

Aside from the Alab ng Musika: Wagi #galingNAMCYA concert, other events, and activities to look forward to are “NAMCYA @ ALABANG  400: The Cellist and The Apprentice” mini-concert at Alabang 400 VIllage Clubhouse presenting, Dr. Renato Lucas and Joshua Ethan Dakanay with Denzel Abarquez at the piano, on August 24, 2019, 5:30pm. This is free admission.

Actual competitions will start on August 31, 2019, in different parts of the country for the Semifinal round. NAMCYA Finals week will take place in CCP from November 26 to December 1, 2019.
