3-Day Star Wars Festival
Singapore celebrates Stars Wars Day 2017 with the inaugural STAR WARS RUN
May 4 is a big day for fans of the force as it celebrates the 40th year anniversary since the release of Star Wars: A New Hope. A one-day celebration, however, is not enough for this epic franchise as Singapore decides to extend the celebrations to three days in order to accommodate all the activities and fans wanting to be part of this yearly event.

Celebrations At Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay
The event was organised by Esprimo and will be celebrated starting May 4 until May 6. With Star Wars being a global phenomenon, there’s every hope that foreign Star Wars fans will be flying to Singapore in order to be part of this event. No wonder the Singapore Tourism Board is also jumping in the fray to further promote the festival.
What’s In the 3-Day Event?
The culmination of the festival will be the STAR WARS RUN, but before this evening event, participants will be treated to some of the most amazing shows based on a galaxy far, far away.
To start off, the skyline of the Marine will be dotted lightsabers, beautifully displayed onto the trees, turning them into iconic SaberTrees. Participants, however, are asked not to take the lightsabers from the trees and simply enjoy the view of dozens of Jedi weapons adorning the venue.

All three nights will be featuring the Garden Rhapsody which will be composed of a 15-minute music and light composition set against the iconic soundtrack of the Star Wars franchise. The sound show will take place between 7:45 until 8:45 pm and will dazzle participants with the amazingly new twist to a favoured classic.
Lastly, the dance floor will be heavily lit as a silent disco encourages everyone to show off their moves. This event will only be available on the 5th and 6th.
May the 4th Be With You
Of course, let’s not forget the all-important appearances of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars franchise. You can definitely expect the appearance of none other than Chewbacca, best known as “Chewie” and often seen in the company of Kylo Ren, who will also be appearing in the show. These two characters will be available for photo opportunities as they make their way through the festival.
Star Wars memorabilia and Star Wars fans clubs will also be joining in, decked in their favourite and highly accurate movie costumes. Catch some of them like the 501st Legion, the FightSaber, and the Rebel Legion.
Oh, and let’s not forget the iconic All-Terrain Scout Transport or the AT-ST which made its debut on Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The replica will be set up in the Supertree Grove grounds and will stay there all throughout the festival, allowing for as many selfies as you might want.

Join the Star Wars Run to Culminate the Festival
To end this epic three-day celebration, the Star Wars Run will be held at The Meadow and is designed for both professional and amateur runners – as well as those who are just in it to have fun. Distances will be 4.5 km or 10 km but that’s not the best part. The 4.5 km route has two themed options. You can either choose the route of the Light Side or be part of Darth Vader’s plight as he walks through the Dark Side. If you want a challenge though, you can also opt for the 10 km route. Even better, both Kylo Ren and Chewbacca will be part of the Run.
