Maxima Aquafun in Samal Island

If you’ve got a day to spare, a visit to Maxima Aquafun should definitely be on your list of places to visit in Davao. Maxima Aquafun is one of the most popular attractions on Samal Island and  it offers several great water activities for all ages. Enhanced by the area’s natural beauty and gorgeous scenery, is now frequented by local and tourists from all over the country.

If you are into water sports, here you can scuba dive, snorkel or kayak in the cool waters of this beach resort, perfect for any level from professional down to novice. I have colds so I ended up staying in the boat with the rest of Davao bloggers while others had snorkeling around the San Jose Wall which provided an incredible close up look for the local marine life.

By just looking at the clear waters,  I was amazed at the different schools of fish and pretty coral garden in the area. If diving is not your thing,  you can take a relaxing canopy walk where you can view the forest life from a higher vantage point. There are adventure opportunities for all visitors and shouldn’t be missed.

For fresh water fans, I heard that a natural water falls called Hagimit Water Falls can be found in the area. While on the boat, we never stopped laughing, sharing stories and eating of course.  There is a small store available to purchase food and drinks, but you can also bring your own without having to pay extra for food, but they will charge you corkage for drinks.

My favorite attraction was the giant water slide at Maxima AquaFun but I was not able tor try it (maybe next time). For me it offered more adventure than anything else there. The slide is 40 meters long and about 1 meter wide.

Water Trampoline

It is the first giant tarpaulin slide made in Samal. Check the end of the slide before you ride though, the drop off to the sea is 5 feet during high hide and 12 feet during low tide. I preferred to ride during low tide for a bigger drop off at the end. Other cool things to do here are the diving board and water trampoline, both of which will end you up in the open ocean, but don’t worry as these areas are monitored by lifeguards and you can’t ride without a mandatory life vest.
