MassKara Festival 2013 have more events in different venues according to the newly elected Mayor of Bacolod City.
Masskara Festival 2013 Updates
The 34th edition of the world-renowned MassKara Festival this October will not only have the traditional MassKara dance parade, arena competition and other existing events, the 19-day festival will also include art exhibits and fashion shows.
This years Masskara street dance competition will now culminate at the Paglaum Sports Complex along Libertad-Lacson Sts. instead of the Bacolod plaza as in the previous years. The Bacolod public plaza will be “spared” from the Masskara street dance competition and the familiar kiosks, the mayor said, adding that it will instead serve as venue for concerts and musical events.
Puentevella also said that he and Bishop Vicente Navarra have agreed to transfer the beer gardens to the reclamation area. Puentevella said the festival organizers will also make use of Araneta Street, particularly the area from Lopue’s San Sebastian to Bacolod public plaza, for street events.
The MassKara Festival 2013 will also now include sports events such as the Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament, a badminton invitational competition, and the Philippine Football Peace Cup, where the Azkals are set to defend their title at the Panaad Stadium.
Meanwhile, Puentevella said the city government is looking into the possibility of opening the Baywalk Restaurant and Entertainment Center at the reclamation area, which was ordered closed in April for operating without a business permit. (Source PNA)
