Lake Sirio in Ivrea, Italy
In the alpine region between the municipalities of Ivrea and Chiaverano in the northern Piedmont Region is Lake Sirio or Lago Sirio. It was originally known as Saint Joseph because of the existence of a convent with the same name, which is on the upland that is adjacent to the lake.

Together with Lago Nero or Black Lake, Lago Pistono, Lago San Michele or St. Michael’s Lake and Lago di Campagna or the Farmland Lake, Lake Sirio makes a part of Cinque Laghi della Serra di Ivrea or the Five Lakes of Ivrea Range. All five lakes are originally glacial, but Lake Sirio is the only known that is nurtured by the sweet spring water from the mountain.
Inside this magical mirror of water lives diverse animal and plant species typical of the aquatic environment like Tree Frogs, Frogs, Royal Mallard of the bird specie, and the water chicken.
The lake revolves at an asphalt road that could be circumnavigated on foot for about 40 minuties.
