The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc, the private sector that partners with the Iloilo City government and the San Jose Parish in organizing the annual Dinagyang Festival, is now gearing for the 2013 staging of the award-winning celebration – Dinagyang Festival 2013.
Dinagyang Festival 2013
The foundation, headed by Ramon Cua Locsin, met recently for the post assessment of the 2012 Dinagyang, which likewise served as venue for discussions of changes and initiatives that should be undertaken next year.
An early signing of the agreement between the triumvirates is being planned, probably before the end of the third quarter of the year to allow ample time for the preparation.
Meantime, tribes that are interested to join the Ati-ati competition are advised to submit their letter of intent not later than Aug. 31 this year to the foundation. Guidelines can be secured at the City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO).
The foundation is eyeing to accommodate only 10 tribes for Dinagyang Festival 2013 thus a strict screening will be held to ensure that all participating tribes are competitive.
Choreographers will also undergo training to be conducted by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to make sure that their presentation will continue to be reflective of the Ilonggo culture.
Meanwhile, a citywide morning religious procession is being proposed to kick off the nine-day novena to Senor Santo Nino to heighten the religiosity of the celebration. The annual celebration in honor of Senor Santo Nino is held every fourth Sunday of January. (Source – PNA)
