Travel Gadget: Huawei P10 and P10 Plus: Specs, Price and Things We Know So Far
Table of Contents
Remember the Huawei P9 and the excellent reception it got from tech lovers and smartphone photographers? Huawei reminds us that the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are finally set for releasing, offering an improvement of the P9 with both units unveiled on the same day.
While the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are essentially mobile phones with all the typical features, the units are primarily created for the travel blogger and photography lovers in mind. Smartphone photography enthusiasts will be glad to know that the P10 and P10 Plus are equipped with a high-powered camera featuring a 20 MP monochrome sensor, a 12 MP RGB sensor, and an 8 MP Leica front camera. That’s right – Huawei continued its partnership with Leica in this new installation. The camera comes with additional features including precise facial recognition in 3D.
What’s the point of an excellent camera if the screen can’t keep up with the quality? This is why the 5.1-inch AMOLED display of the P10 offers a 1440 by 2560 resolution. On the other hand, the P10 Plus is slightly larger at 5.5 inches but the resolution is the same. You might recall that the P9 actually had a 1080p resolution so this is a definite improvement. Phone photographers should be able to capture clearer and crisper images in a spectrum of colors.
Processor and Memory
How many pictures can you take with this phone before it starts to slow down? Considering how the phone’s memory is a choice between 64 GB and 128 GB, this translates to literally thousands of pictures. The phone’s RAM is also set at 4 GB or 6 GB with an octa-core processor with a 2.3 GHz frequency. Huawei uses its very own graphics unit, introducing the Kirin 960 chipset which is especially optimized for the phone model.
The phone is specifically created to load apps quickly and effortlessly with zero crashes that can interrupt your phone use. The chips are set so that the most often used apps are consistently polished for fast-paced loading.
The world’s first 4.5G LTE smart phones, both the P10 and the P10 Plus can handle as much internet speed as you’re willing to push through it. Although still limited by the Mbps you have, both models have the potential of accommodating as much as 600Mbps for a really fast download. All other features for connectivity including Bluetooth and computer connections are available.
While there are marked improvements between the P9 and the P10 and P10 Plus, there are still some designs that Huawei decided to maintain. To start off, there’s the home button and the embedded fingerprint sensor. The general look, feel, weight, and size of the phone are also fairly unchanged. Physically, what you’ll notice is the extension of color choices which now include: rose gold, white, black, gold, green, and purple.
When will this be available in the Philippines and How much?
The question of prices and actual price of Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are still up in the air. Rumors say prices will start at $500 with a possible release on the month of March or April.
With a Leica-created camera and the kind of processor that rivals Samsung and Apple, it’s not surprising that Huawei is quickly making its mark in the smart phone industry. It managed to carve a special niche for itself, however – that of phone photography. With an impressive camera matched by an even more impressive screen, this might well be the brand phone photographers are waiting for.
