Guam welcomes U.S. veterans, expats, Filipinos with dual American citizenship or a valid U.S. visa for the vaccination tourism program Air V&V

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) recently announced that Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) have approved Air V&V, a program that allows tourists to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in Guam and vacation thereafter.

This vaccination tourism campaign provides a faster vaccination rollout for citizens living in the Philippines, with Guam being the nearest and most accessible U.S. territory at just 3.5 hours away. The island has also reported low cases of COVID-19 infections and has fully vaccinated 75% of the adult population making the vaccination program safer and more organized. As a result of this progress, Governor Leon Guerrero signed an executive order today, June 30, 2021, that allows incoming travelers with a negative PCR test result collected within 72 hours of arrival on Guam to be exempt from quarantine, effective at 12:01am on July 4, 2021.

“This is fantastic news for Guam’s tourism industry,” said GVB President & CEO Carl T.C. Gutierrez. “We can now welcome more visitors who are eager to experience our beautiful island, and visitors can confidently enjoy Guam as a safe destination.”

Those who take part in the Air V&V program can receive the vaccine in the comfort of their hotel room and with a negative PCR test result on arrival, they can immediately enjoy the island while waiting for their second dose or their departing flight. Participants can choose between Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).

Recently, 110 businesses have been approved for the Guam Safe Certification and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels stamp which enables travelers to identify destinations around the world that have adopted standardized health and hygiene protocols. This milestone is a testament that visitors can enjoy traveling again while getting inoculated, without the heavy and strict safety protocols currently implemented in the Philippines, and considering half of Guam’s population has already been vaccinated.
