Over 300 offers are now available for Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB)’s 6th annual Shop Guam e-Festival. The GVB signature event launched last November 10, 2017, and will run until February 28, 2018.
As the biggest shopping event in the Western Pacific, Shop Guam has evolved into a global campaign that features shopping incentives such as tax-free shopping, dining, tourism services, optional tours, and shops found only on Guam. The Shop Guam e-Festival won two prestigious international awards this year: the United States Department of Commerce’s President’s E-Award and the best Travel Media – Mobile Travel Application from the Pacific Travel Asia Association (PATA).
GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight said, “GVB recruited over 180 vendors for this year’s campaign, setting a new record of more than 300 offers and discounts that both local residents and tourists can access through our state-of-the-art Shop Guam mobile app, available on both iOS and Android devices.”
He also added, “We invite everyone to download the free app and take advantage of this interactive shopping experience just in time for the holiday season.”
The Shop Guam app also comes with Guam Visitors Bureau’s beacon sensor technology that uses location-based proximity in sending real-time push notifications to inform the users about their nearby offers.
Top Shop Guam Festival Offers
One of the major enhancements of the 2017 Shop Guam e-Festival is the GVB’s global partnership with TripAdvisor’s, the world’s most trusted travel review site. The TripAdvisor promotion highlights some of the top offers and merchants of the 2017 Shop Guam e-Festival.
GVB Director of Global Marketing, Pilar Laguaña said, “Laguaña is leveraging the power of TripAdvisor and its influence on travel reviews to elevate the overall service quality and guest experience provided in Guam. The Shop Guam TripAdvisor partnership is our first initiative to feature the top local businesses on the global stage and aggressively promote them to the passionate TripAdvisor community.”
Popular Social Media Influencers
Guam Visitors Bureau brought in talent from seven of Guam’s source markets to share the experience with their millions of followers. Popular social media influencers such as Satoumi from Japan, JR Lee from Taiwan, Sermin Hong from Korea, Flavia Wong from Hong Kong, Zoe Paradigma from Russia, Alodia Gosiengfiao from the Philippines, and Gao Min (Nono) from China. GVB also invited James Hay, a renowned virtual reality specialist from the United States, to film a series of 360 videos to feature the Shop Guam experience.
These social media stars explored the beauty of Guam as they visited Shop Guam vendors and posted live on various Social Networking Sites (SNS) using the hashtags #ShopGuam2017 and #InstaGuam.
