G-SHOCK Presents Latest Limited Edition “Filipino Designed” Casio National G-Shock Watch

Casio G-Shock celebrates Filipino toughness with the first National G-Shock watch

(Manila, Philippines) Casio is a well-known watch company in the Philippine market. Its G-Shock series is called the ultimate tough watch because of its sturdiness and last January, they held a contest for the best design for the National G-Shock Watch. They wanted a design that depicts the life and spirit of Filipinos and the aesthetic of Casio watch, in particular, the G-Shock series.

Since G-Shock abides by three concepts called “Triple 10” which are the 10-meter fall endurance, 10-bar water resistance and 10-year battery life, it’s only fitting that the design depicts the same characteristics as well as showing Filipino pride.

1,200 entries were received and carefully chosen in the concluded National G-Shock contest and one emerged on top. The winner is Dylan Dylanco who took inspiration from the Ifugao communities of the North to the tribes of the Moros of the South. She used ethnic patterns which are symbols of bravery, decorative tattoos and traditional weaves which symbolize the wearer’s over all characteristics as a true warrior.

Dylanco called her design “Habi”, reminiscent of the method used for making art and a source of livelihood from the communities in the provinces of the country. She wanted to motivate Filipinos everywhere through her winning piece.
