Good News! You may now start planning your Long Weekend trips for 2014. President Benigno Aquino III has already declared at least 18 Official Philippine Public Holidays for 2014.
Official Philippine Holidays 2014 Long Weekends
There would be at least four long weekends for 2014:
- Chinese New Year, which falls on January 31, a Friday, as a Special Non-Working Day.
- Holy Week will start on Holy Thursday, April 17, and Good Friday, April 18, both regular holidays; and Black Saturday, April 19, which is a Special Non-Working Day.
- National Heroes Day will be on August 25 (Monday)
- The Christmas holidays will stretch for five happy days, due to the two additional Special Non-Working Days for December 24, Wednesday, and December 26 (Friday).
President Aquino signed on September 25 Proclamation No. 655, which declares the official public holidays including the Chinese New Year and Decembers 24 and 26. Based on Proclamation no. 655, all holidays, except those religious in nature, will be moved to the nearest Monday.
The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of End of Ramadan 2014 / Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha shall be issued after their dates have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar.
