An evening out at a Mexican restaurant should be fun and full of Tacos, Burritos, margarita and tequila and thats exactly what we had during the Chihuahua Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar’s Bloggers Night. Few weeks before Christmas, selected Food Bloggers in the country was invited by Chihuahua Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar for an evening of TexMex food appreciation.
This is not just a place where you go to eat, it’s a place to go immerse yourself in some of my favorite things that Mexico has to offer. I love Texan and Mexican food or what we call Tex-Mex. Thanks to Elian Habayeb and Ines Cabarrus for introducing this wonderful cuisine in this side of Manila.
Chips & Queso Special – A basket of nacho chips served with their famous queso dip, and your choice of salsa from the salsa bar
While we were enjoying the first set of their fully dressed Nachos, the restaurant manager Bryan Gallinger recommends that you dress in something appropriate to the Mex or Tex-Mex theme and minutes later, Spanky and the rest of the gang started wearing mexican inspired costumes and hats to make the night more fun… the Chihuahua way!
If you want to try something different from the margaritas, which I can recommend, you can go for the non-alcoholic aguas frescas, which are light fresh fruit juice blends like pear or watermelon. Or you can enjoy a Michelada, which is kind of like the beer version of a bloody Mary. Yum.
Mini Me Burritos
Chips and Queso “Special” was a great way to start things off. Portions were generous and the Queso is a melted cheese with spicy ground beef and jalapeños sprinkled on top. That got me right in the mood for nachos, and I opted for the Steak Nachos, but will definitely go for the Chicken Nachos next time. Not because the steak wasn’t good – it was delicious – but because the chicken looked great, too. The medium rare steak bite size pieces are sprinkled with a bit of fresh salsa, melting cheese, and sour cream, all on top of a pile of tortilla chips.
Room for More
Next I went for the burritos. The quesadillas looked great, but I’m a burrito guy and I had to try the Two Bean Burrito. The burritos are huge – a whopping 12 inches long – but if you want a Mini Me you can just get 10 inches. Right, because that’s just a taster. Beans, rice, salsa, and the perfect blend of spices plus cheese, made this a complete meal. Complete except for…
There’s even a choice of sweet treats including a Banana Nutella Quesadilla, which ventures a bit far from the typical Mexican cuisine that I recognize, but I’m not complaining. Have I said ‘yum’ enough yet?
Banana Nutella Quesadilla
All in all I was really excited to try the food at Chihuahua Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar. But I got more than I was expecting, with not only delicious food but also a fun and festive atmosphere. I like the fact that everything they serve is made in-house except for some special imported library of hot sauce from Mexico. I’ll be back, because I didn’t get to taste nearly enough of those hot sauces.
