August 20, 2012 declared as a Regular Holiday to mark EID’L FITR or Feast of Ramadan

Signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr., The end of Ramadan is also traditionally declared a regular holiday to give Muslim Filipinos time to observe their faith.

To promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr; and in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Monday, 20 August 2012, as a regular holiday throughout the country.

Aside from August 20, other holidays for this month are slated on the 21st and the 27th. August 21 is the death anniversary of the late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. while August 27 is the celebration of the National Heroes’ Day, normally celebrated every last Monday of August.
