Upon first inspection on taking the Aiaiai Tracks headphones out of the packaging, I was immediately skeptical about what their performance might be like. The design of the headphones harkens back to the 1980s. Having lived through the 80s as well as many crappy headphones from that time, I assembled the Aiaiai Tracks and prepared for the worst.

I definietely had the wrong impression! It was a pleasant surprise to experience well-rounded sound, from deep warm bass to complex and dynamic sound frameworks thanks to the Tracks’ dual 10mm drivers that accentuated every instrument in my test songs clearly and cleanly.

I also tested out a varied collection of spoken word and radio shows, all encoded with different bit rates, and all in all, the Aiaiai Tracks headphones’ performance delivered fidelity of a highly decent order. All vocals sounded precise, no fuzzing or crackling or the usual tinny and screechy misery that comes with a price tag of Php3,250.00.

The remote control for smartphones that comes on the wire with the headphones worked well on my Android phone and a friend’s iPhone, the cord is just a little longer than the industry standard.

One small worry about the Aiaiai Tracks headphones with mic is that while the rail style headband is graceful looking, I’m not sure that it can hold up to a lot of the wear and tear of travel, but that has yet to be seen, and I’ll keep you posted.

The customizable and detachable ear cups make these phones perfect for traveling, they are of small, inconspicuous and stylish, and they have superior sound for the price. The current trend in headphones are the giant ear cups that cover half of your head. With the Aiaiai Tracks headphones you’ll look a little less like an air traffic controller and more like a savvy traveler.
