Old Town White Coffee @ Central Market, Kuala Lumpur

Malaysians are known for drinking coffee and tea, which is why Kopitiams are all over the place, especially in the City of Kuala Lumpur. In Manila, one of my favorite Coffee Shops serves Kopi, A Malay word for Coffee.

While walking around the Central Market yesterday, I saw an interesting restaurant that serves Coffee and my favorite Kaya Toast. It’s been more than two hours since I had my not-so-small breakfast, so I decided to try out Kopi and Kaya toast at Old Town Coffee inside the Central Market of Kuala Lumpur. If Starbucks is the largest coffee shop chain in the Philippines, OldTown White Coffee is its equivalent in Malaysia.

With beautiful decor and a fully air-conditioned area, the Old Town White Coffee also offers Malaysian breakfast food like Toasts, half-boiled eggs, and my favorite, Laksa.

In this coffee shop, a chit form and a pencil are conveniently placed at your table so you can write down your order using the product code. Once you’re done listing your order, you can hand the chit form to the barista so they can prepare your food. No need to fall in line and wait for the barista to call your name as the food will be served to your table once it’s already available.

I love the taste and aroma of their coffee, which I like to smell whenever I crave it. After visiting their website, I learned that their coffee beans are roasted at a different temperature, with caramel added during the roasting process.

I’m glad I tried this coffee shop and experienced it coz I’ve been wanting to visit Starbucks near Bukit Bintang just to have a coffee fix. Now I know where to go for coffee in my future trips here in Kuala Lumpur.

Aside from their coffee, I also tried their Kaya & Butter Toast and their Peanut Butter Toast. It’s really different when you taste the food where it originally came from. The Kaya toasts in Manila are good until I tasted the Old Town White Coffee’s version.

I really want to visit their branch in Bukit Bintang, but I don’t have too much time since I’ve been exploring foodie places and interesting tourist spots here in KL. How I wish they had a branch in Manila so I can just go back anytime I wish to:(
