You Can Now Travel by Train from Lucena – San Pablo and vice versa via PNR.
Commuting from Lucena City to San Pablo, Laguna, and vice versa will soon be hassle-free, thanks to the reopening of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) route, which operated almost a decade ago. The reopening is set to happen before June 30.
In a report published by the Philippine News Agency (PNA), the 44-kilometer interprovincial commuter railway will have four stops in between and two terminal stations. From Lucena to San Pablo, it will have a travel time of 1 hour and 32 minutes. The route is expected to make 10 trips per day.
No exact fare has been announced yet, but according to PNR, it will be less than P100.
This news will primarily benefit many commuters, as this is an additional transportation option for those working in either of the two provinces. Not to mention, it’s also a faster and more convenient way of commuting between the two provinces.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the reopening of this route will significantly affect the restoration of PNR Bicol Express, which will connect Metro Manila to more provinces in Southern Luzon, most especially Bicol.
PNR is the state-owned railway that started its operations in 1892. It’s a one-commuter rail service that travels through Manila, Laguna, and locally in the Bicol region. Hopefully, new routes will be added in the future, making commuting more accessible and more convenient.
