April 12, 2012 – Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Day 2 in Cebu – Previous Post : Café Amiga.
Its my fourth time visiting Zubuchon Restaurant in One Mango but I never got tired of visiting it and I assume you already know why:) During our last visit in Cebu, I was surprised to see that the restaurant is now bigger compare to the smaller space I saw two years ago.
The Best Pig Ever
Zubuchon may not be a pioneer in serving Cebu’s famous Lechon but they are probably the most innovative among the Lechon Restaurants in Cebu.
Lechon Mongo
You may have heard about Zubuchon when the famous Celebrity Chef Anthony Bourdain visited the country and declared that this Roasted Pig version is “The Best Pig Ever” he have tasted.
Kamias Shake
The word ZubuChon came from the two words Zubu and Lechon. Historically speaking, Zubu was the old name of Cebu and thats how the island was identified in the old Philippine Maps.
Lechon Dinuguan
Zubuchon only uses native and organically grown pigs from some rural areas of Cebu. Pigs that are organically grown has lesser fat which makes it healthier if you eat lechon moderately (disclamer haha).
The Famous Zubuchon
The restaurant also came first in introducing lechon inspired Pinoy dishes Sinigang na lechon, Sizzling Squid stuffed with lechon, Monggo with Lechon, Dinuguan lechon and Pancit Bami with Lechon Toppings.
Sylvanas
Lechon Mongo is one of my favorite dish in Zubuchon not only because it really taste good but because its the the only dish with less fat in it. The creativity of the restaurant owner / blogger Market Manila was so amazing.
Sizzling Squid Stuffed with Lechon Sisig
To make your dining experience a little bit healthier, they are serving Kamias Shake and Santol shake which will help you digest the food easier and burn the calories a lot more faster… A-Mazing indeed!
Best Bibingka Ever
Dont get me wrong, I love their Lechon but my ultimate favorite in their restaurant is their desserts like Bibingka and their Leche Flan. I just love the sweetness and the muscovado toppings of their Bibingka and the creaminess of their Leche Flan is also unforgettable.
Lechon Sinigang
Joan Danao, Zubuchon’s General Manager is also a passionate baker and she just introduced her Sylvanas as part of their Dessert selections and it immediately become one of my favorites. It reminds me of the Sylvanas I tasted in Dumaguete City… I LOVE IT:)
