Bintan Lagoon Resort Review
Bintan Lagoon Resort (hotel info) is BIG. This is the first impression most people would likely have upon entering. Sure, it sits on 310 acres of land, which in turn sits atop a beautiful ocean. But there are other big things here too.

Take, for example, getting into the resort. Bintan has its own international ferry station, complete with immigration! You can go to the Tanah Merah terminal in Singapore, and land here. It’s like magic!
That plus the fact that comfort and amenities are also big in the resort. How big? Let me tell you.
Spacious Rooms
Let’s start with the rooms. We stayed at the Junior Room, slated for 2 people. It was really comfortable, and there was enough space to go around! There’s even a day bed where you could just cuddle in and talk, which is also perfect for when you want to crash in after some activity and you don’t want to take the hassle of washing up. Now that’s an amenity you don’t see every day.
Now think of that, and think of the fact that Bintan has 470 such rooms. Some rooms are even bigger! All of these rooms with luxurious trappings, clean contemporary lines, and the unmistakable touch of Asian decor. This is tropical living at its finest!
Vast Pools
And I’m not even talking about the ocean yet. The resort’s pools can accommodate a good number of its guests without being overcrowded. There are pretty little sun lounges and chairs around, and the lines of palm trees make the scene very photogenic! You don’t even have to take a dip to appreciate the beauty. Just walk around or sit down, and soak in the sun and wind.
Another great thing here is that the pool is neither too hot nor too cold. It hit the Goldilocks spot, great for refreshing the weary body and mind.
Long Beach
No kidding, the sands stretch out for a full kilometer and a half! It’s one of the most romantic parts of the resort and is perfect for weddings. Imagine having this length as your aisle! Of course, you could just use it for your meditative sunset or sunrise walks.
Despite its length, the pretty white sand beach actually doesn’t take you far from Bintan given the latter’s vastness. So if you need to head back, no need to walk all the way down to the other end. And if you go hungry, there’s Nelayan (a restaurant) where you can try Asian snacks and drinks such as Buko (young coconut) Juice. They also serve alcoholic drinks, if that’s more to your liking. Just take care not to do your walks at noon, since the wide open space can get really hot. And don’t dig around in the sand too much, since you might get some of those bugs in the sand. They have a painful bite, and 2 of my friends were bitten. I guess one has to be careful with every beach since it’s still a part of nature and there are creatures dwelling there.
If you go for a swim, you’d appreciate the fact that you won’t feel sticky afterwards. That’s really clean, cool water!
Good Food
The breakfast options at Bintan have vegan and Halal foods, as well as the more traditional meals that cater to the inner carnivore in us. There are western classics like salads, toasts, and cereals. There are also Asian treats like fish ball soup and indispensable rice. Our Indian friend thoroughly enjoyed his meal, and also told us about some of the food we wouldn’t have tried otherwise!
While it’s not to the point of being spectacular, the food was good and hearty. Perhaps an even greater attraction would be the beautiful greens and blues around you while you eat!
Excellent Service
Of course, a resort this large would be hard to manage. Though you wouldn’t feel that when you’re being treated with the same level of friendly service by all staff. They speak really good English, too! Ask staff about anything and they are willing to help.
Bintan is also big on a lot of things such as activities and equipment. You should really try out their gym! And if you’re not the type to stroll around, Bintan obliges you by renting out a free buggy when you book a villa.
