SM Seaside City in SRP Mambaling is just 30 minutes away by taxi from the Capitol. If you’re planning on taking a Jeepney ride, drop off at the overhead pass at Mambaling Elementary School and ride a motorcycle from there and pay PHP15 per person. If you’re coming from SM City Cebu, you may ride the MyBus for PHP25 per person. The restaurant is on the mall’s 3rd Level Sky Park right across Casa Verde
First of all, I love where the establishment is situated. The Sky Park is a beautiful outdoor deck of SM Seaside City with a panoramic vista. Imagine having a cup of coffee and a good book while relaxing at one of their cozy chairs while watching the sunset over the horizon that pierces through the glass walls of this cubic structure that looks as if it’s floating on water, where else can you do that in Cebu? Neutral colors of black and white dominate the place with instagrammable dividers, blackboards with colored chalk lettering and creative overhead lamps with an area of about 100 square meters that could accommodate about 30 people in one setting. Room for desserts is perfect for dates, casual hang-outs or even business meetings.
For dessert lovers, they have more or less five types of cakes and soft serve ice cream with 5 choices of toppings. For those who came in to have a quick bite, they have 7 sandwich offerings such as pulled pork, turkey and roast beef to name a few. You can also create your own sandwich, how cool is that? For the coffee and tea lovers, they have hot and cold options. For the smoothie fanatics, they have nine flavors to choose from such as mixed berries, peach mango and blueberry strawberry to name some.
To cure the drowsiness after a big meal, I ordered a hot cup of mocha flake and specifically requested for a shape of a heart to heal the one that’s broken within, kidding!
Ice Cream Served with Toppings and Fairy Floss
This dessert wrapped around cotton candy was the first thing that instantly grabbed my attention. When was the last time you had cotton candy? Exactly. The perfect way to enjoy this is to combine a little bit of everything at one go. Surely, a rush of nostalgic memories will flood your entire body. They have five versions of this dessert named after their toppings: Mason’s Bear Belly with gummy bears, K Pop C’s with popcorn, Juliana’s Cookie Madness, Jayden’s Jar of Cereals and Ting’s Heavenly Chocolate. The best part is that you can create your own, up to 2 toppings, for the same price. My favorite however is Ting’s Heavenly Chocolate mainly because of the presentation of its various toppings and tell me, who doesn’t love chocolate?
Cakes of the Day
We wanted to have a taste of their sandwiches but our tummies won’t allow us after having a sumptuous lunch at Casa Verde. The task of devouring four slices of cake was not an easy feat to accomplish even for the six of us. But with their cakes’ aesthetic appeal alone, special mention to the 9gag cake, I mean the rainbow cake, combined with just the right sweetness level, moistness and addictive flavors, no traces were left on our plates, metaphorically speaking. I may be a bit biased, but their Tiramisu and Red Velvet cakes are a must-try.
In comparison with other coffee shops and dessert shops in Cebu, I believe they are the most affordable. For PHP59, you can have their ice cream specials on a cone. For PHP115 and below, you can already have a primo cup of their hot and cold drinks and smoothies. For as low as PHP130, the 6-inch egg salad sandwich is yours. If word of mouth spreads, this establishment would be full-packed daily.
A couple of minutes and your order is ready to eat or drink right at your table. The team at Room for Desserts is more than capable to meet the specific requests of their customers, as they have been continuously learning since late last year. Avoid weekends and peak hours as much as possible as service time would surely be affected.
If you’re looking for the perfect spot to watch the sunset in SM Seaside City with cake on one hand and coffee on another surrounded by people you love, then Room for Desserts is right for you. Later!
