Condé Nast Traveler Releases List of Best Islands in Asia
Siargao lands the top spot in the yearly Best Islands in the World (Best in Asia subcategory) by Condé Nast Traveler, a travel and lifestyle magazine. Not far behind are Langkawi in Malaysia and Bali in Indonesia. The annual list of best islands is now broken down into smaller groups by region.
Boracay – Best Islands in Asia
These are Asia, Atlantic, Australia, Caribbean, Europe, North America, South Pacific and ‘the rest of the world’. Condé Nast Traveler is a widely-known and reputable luxury and lifestyle travel magazine which has already won 25 National Magazine Awards. It holds office in the US and Pilar Guzmán is the Editor.
The top placer, Siargao is popular in the Philippines and the whole world for its surf breaks. It’s the number one spot here in the Philippines for many surfers due to its ‘Cloud 9’ surf which is characterized by thick and hollow tubes. That famous surf breaks were discovered in the late 1980s.
Beach bums will also enjoy Siargao’s white sand beaches. The island is home to the largest mangrove forest reserves and wetlands. Its areas are also abundant with rock and coral reefs.
The second placer, Boracay is the Philippine’s most loved gem for its fine white sand beaches, vibrant environment and numerous water activities. Boracay recently underwent a clean-up drive and closed its doors to tourists but it’s going to reopen and a new and cleaner Boracay will welcome everyone. Palawan on number three is the archipelago province of the Philippines located at the western part of the country.
It’s becoming very popular with local and foreign tourists for its limestone cliffs, scuba diving spots, affordable and luxury hotels, friendly locals, caves, wildlife sanctuary and underground rivers. All these magnificent views can be experienced only in the Philippines in Siargao, Boracay and Palawan that’s why tourists are swarming these places.
