The Suave Algarve

Beach Cave in Algarve Portugal

Algarve, Portugal — The main priority for millions of pale, vitamin D-deficient holiday-goers each year is to soak up some much-needed rays, returning home with the kind of bronze hue that a luminous orange spray tan addict could only dream of. For these sun-seeking escapists, embarking on a trip to the sandy beaches of the Algarve would be a perfect remedy for their plight of no sunlight.

Indeed, the perfect Portuguese climate will leave visitors desperately rummaging through their bags in search of a pair of sunglasses and some suntan lotion, as they gaze at the picturesque scenes of sand and sun outside their hotel room window. With more sunshine hours than California, even the pastiest of visitors will end up with a tan to envy.

Albufeira can boast of being the most popular destination in Portugal and is one of the most breathtaking and exciting resorts in Europe. For those sun-starved tanners, the region provides an array of sprawling beaches to roast on, but they’d be loath to miss out on the resort’s vast repertoire of other amenities and attractions on offer.

While some may like to immerse themselves in the day’s rays by sunbathing, others will be able to do so while enjoying the range of water sports available, which also offer learning courses for those novices amongst us who are more familiar with an ironing board than a surfboard. Waterskiing, sailing, and surfing are all readily available for those looking for a splash of fun, and the crystal clear water of the sun-kissed sea is an ideal platform on which to perform (or at least attempt to perform) some extreme stunts.

When the sun finally goes down, the fun will only continue as the Algarve is rife with a vivacious nightlife. With a range of renowned nightclubs and bars, the region is more than capable of providing ceaseless entertainment throughout the night. ‘Kiss’ is one of Albufeira’s most visited nightclubs, and holds regular themed nights that result in some outrageous costumes and wacky shenanigans. Meanwhile, Kadoc in Vilamoura is a club of high caliber and even higher capacity, holding a massive 7000 party-goers across 5 bustling, glittery floors.
