Philippine Food Holidays
A perfect travel experience is always linked to a perfect and scrumptious gastronomic treats. With the launched of the Philippine Food Holidays: A Historical Culinary Event, truly CALABARZON (Region IV-A) showcased its heritage with a great feast of historic foods. The unveiling of the event is in support of the Madrid Fusion Manila 2016 and Flavors of the Philippines. The event took place last April 4, 2016, at the General Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit, Cavite.

The culinary event was organized by the Department of Tourism in cooperation with DoT Region IV-A and Local Government of various towns in CALABARZON and participated also by DoT Region 1, 9 and CAR.
The event was divided into two parts, the first part presented the “Eat your History” Culinary Tour Packages and introduced the Culinary Generals and Razor Chefs of Cavite. Moreover, it was also the launched of Food Holidays Philippines – Culinary Guidebook.
“The chef transformed the plate into a more beautiful canvas,” said Dir. Rebecca V. Labit, DoT Region IV-A.
And for the second part, guess what? Eating time! Well, CALABARZON offers a lot of culinary treats to delight on and here are a few them you should take note.

Main Menu
Showcasing Rizal’s famous Minaluto, served in a huge cooking pan topped with adobo-flavored rice mixed with seafoods, roasted meat, veggies, and salted egg. Also, the organic lechon that is good for the health. I also enjoyed the Sakulan sa Dahon (boodle fight) like Minaluto, it has a little bit of everything like pork, veggies, chicken, seafood, and rice.

Pansit Pusit

I was really attracted to this different style of pansit, looking at its color, surely you’ll be curious about its taste. And trust me, it’s just delish.
Sweet Desserts
Cavite is also famous for its delectable rice cakes such as Tamales and Samala Rice Cakes – delicious homemade malagkit. Indeed, tamales or Cavite’s bibingkoy is a combination of salty, sweet and a bit spicy taste. I don’t know how it got its spicy taste tho. The turon or banana fritters and the fresh lumpia are both luscious, too. Perfect for the afternoon snack.

Who can resist these yummy treats? Forget about the moist chocolate cakes of the western and indulge with our local desserts. It is best matched with coffee of course.
Yummy Puto Bumbong

Puto Bumbong or Pirurutong is a special kind of sticky rice with a purple color. The way it is made is by soaking in salted water and drying overnight. After, it will be poured to bumbong or the bamboo tubes allowing to be steamed. Topped with butter and margarine, sugar and coconut. I really enjoyed eating Puto Bumbong especially during Christmas and Simbang Gabi. This delightful treat Puto Bumbong truly satisfied my appetite. Christmas or not, CALABARZON offers Puto Bumbong.
