Mantigue Island Travel Guide
Camiguin Island is not really for all high-class beachgoers. There are limited luxury resorts, less crowd, and no high-octane parties, just like the ones in Boracay. But who cares if there’s no party till you drop places in Camiguin?

I actually love it that way. If you’re looking for a day tour on an island with a peaceful atmosphere, try visiting Mantigue Island Nature Park in Camiguin.
Mantigue Island Nature Park
Once known as a fishing village, Mantigue Island Nature Park now offers a wonderful experience to locals and tourists who want to enjoy the clear waters and explore the small forest.
Mantigue Island is also known as Magsaysay Island. The island covers a total of 4 hectares of land size. It is located 3.3 kilometers from the shore of Barangay San Roque.
This island offers the sight of glowing white powdery sand beaches from San Roque port, and the sight becomes more brilliant and luminous as one approaches the place.
It can be rightly said that viewing Mantigue Islands presents a new and vibrant experience to tourists than a usual sightseeing venture altogether.
The island was earlier inhabited by around 10 families, all being related to one another.
Mini Forest Trail
A couple of years ago, tourists could stay on the island overnight, but since the island has been declared a protected area, it is just open for day tours.
Mantigue Island Natural Park is a clean area surrounded by glossy white powdery beaches with coral sand all over the place.
The water is crystal clear, making it easy for people to identify the hard, soft corals and seaweeds covering the island.
Tourists can enjoy activities like swimming, snorkeling, or diving. Another beautiful sight that adds to the attraction is a lush and green mini-forest with natural grasses, plants, and small trees in the middle of the small island.
The beachfront certainly has unique natural scenery along with the sight of Marine-Turtle nests. Some dive resorts regularly organize boat trips for visitors or tourists to Mantigue Island Nature Park.
Tourists need to register first at the counter in San Roque, the starting point towards this island’s natural park.
How to Get There
From Mambajao, rent a motorela to the town of Mahinog. Mantigue Island can be reached by light watercraft in 25–30 minutes from Brgy. San Roque in the town of Mahinog.
The Philippines’ largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific Air, is the only airline offering direct Camiguin flights. It operates flights from Cebu to Camiguin every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, for as low as P588.
