As part of the Bohol Familiarization Tour sponsored by the Department of Tourism, I, along with fellow travel writers and online publishers, was privileged enough to have been in one of the best beach resorts in Bohol – the Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort.

The Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort Experience
Bohol is renowned as one of the best tourist destinations in the country, for its natural landscape, which is preserved for its beauty, and is a destination that travel writers and online publishers such as ourselves cannot pass up. This island destination one of the few places to visit for a wonderful travel review experience, at least at one point in our lives. This can be dreamy for some, including ourselves. With thanks to the Department of Tourism’s generous sponsorship, the dream has not just remained a dream for us, but a reality.

From Manila, the travel can take you an hour and a quarter when boarding an airplane flight to Bohol. But if you are in Cebu, getting to Bohol by ferry may take you an hour and a half to reach Tagbilaran Port. The Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort (get discount) is 24 kilometers and approximately 30 minutes by taxi, possibly even faster if you have your own ride from Tagbilaran Airport.

Pool in Bluewater Resort in Panglao Island
Located southwest of Bohol and east of Cebu, Panglao Island has gained a reputation as one of the most visited destinations in the country for its stunning coral reefs, dive spots, and a multiplex of islets. Its serene ambiance, complemented by its close proximity to some other known tourist destinations in the area, namely the Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, and Tarsier Sanctuary, in addition to the myriad of falls, springs, and caves, makes it an impeccable must-see destination for tourists, both foreign and local.

Bluewater Salad
Nestled on an island known for its white sand beaches, pure waters, marine life, and marine sanctuaries, Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort makes a luxurious escape from the daily stresses of life, one of which is abiding by the natural beauty of Bohol. Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort’s Filipino architecture and design complement Bohol’s culture, inherent warm hospitality, and eco-focused initiatives. It is a sister resort to both Sumilon Bluewater Resort in Oslob and Maribago Bluewater Resort in Mactan, Cebu.

How’s my Room?
I love the room, especially the hanging bed; you have to see it for you to understand why I called it “The Hanging Bed”. The interior design proves that Filipino artistry is something we can be proud of. The wooden door leads you to yet another important part of a hotel room – the Bathroom. I love how the bathroom was arranged, and of course, the bathtub in the middle of the enclosed room made it more elegant.

The Hanging Bed
Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort (hotel info) comprises 54 guestrooms and villas, elegantly furnished to provide a luxurious experience for its guests. Guests may choose from a variety of room types, whichever best fits their needs and budget. The guest rooms may vary between a premier deluxe room and a family loft room, while villas may vary between a honeymoon villa and a family pool villa.
The Premier Deluxe room is good for two guests. However, it can also accommodate two more adults at an extra cost. At 68 square meters, the room is air-conditioned and offers 2 Queen-sized beds with complimentary Wi-Fi access. It also has its own bathroom with a toilet, shower, and bathtub.

Bluewater Panglao Amuma Spa
Similar to the Premier Deluxe room in amenities and service, you will find a better price with the Family Loft room if you are traveling with 4 people. The room can accommodate four individuals, with an option to accommodate two more at an extra cost.
Ideal for a couple on honeymoon, the Honeymoon Villa accommodates only two people. The only difference from the two mentioned is that, instead of two Queen-sized beds, it has one King-sized bed for a couple, and the room is larger at 142 square meters.

Bluewater Panglao Family Loft
The largest room, at 224 square meters, the Family Pool Villa can accommodate 4 persons and an additional 2 persons at an extra cost. This, too, uses 2 Queen-sized beds for its guests to share. Availing of this room, along with the other room types, automatically entitles you to free breakfast.
For two consecutive days, we enjoyed their buffet breakfast at their al-fresco restaurant. From bread basket to fruits and a wide selection of Filipino dishes, everyone enjoyed their breakfast spread. My favorite would be their Ube Ensaymada and their version of Boholano’s favorite Puto and Sikwati.

Bluewater Panglao Pool near the Beach
Not just appreciated for its natural beaches, the resort also offers pools that all ground-level rooms have direct access to. But those who prefer more luxurious accommodations may opt for premium rooms, which have their own private outdoor dipping pool.
