Citadines Cebu City Hotel Review

Cebu City, Philippines — When American actor David Boreanaz said that he could easily escape to a hotel for a weekend and do absolutely nothing – I’ve felt that. Staying at a hotel once in a while is a great experience, as you get to splurge yourself, have some privacy and a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of life – and this is exactly what I’ve experienced during my visit in one of the finest hotels in Cebu City.

About the Hotel
Along with fellow travel bloggers and content creators, we were invited by Ascott Philippines to visit Cebu for a 4day and 3night staycation at Citadines Cebu City.
Citadines Cebu City is The Ascott Limited’s first serviced residence in the Queen City of the South. One can feel the hominess and the warm Visayan hospitality once they stepped inside Citadines. The property is designed especially for long-staying guests, to ensure that their guests enjoy a personalized experience throughout their stay at the serviced residences. They boast 180 fully furnished and modern serviced apartments complete with kitchen, Wi-Fi, separate living and dining area, and a private bathroom.
Hotel Location

Citadines Cebu City is situated within a precinct of the multipart complex at the Base Line development area. Its proximity to famous tourist spots such as the Fuente Osmena Circle, the Cebu Provincial Capitol, Magellan’s Cross and the Taoist Temple, makes this place a great choice of accommodation when in the city. Plus! Some shopping areas, bars, and restaurants are also minutes away from the hotel.
Arrival Experience
Upon arriving at Cebu Airport, we were welcomed by Ares Marco (Ascott Host), the happiness ambassador of the property. From the airport, we proceeded to the hotel, but we didn’t checked-in immediately. We were informed that the hotel is fully booked at that moment and our rooms are not yet ready so we had to wait at Abaca Restaurant to enjoy brunch.

It was a welcoming surprise that the hotel partnered with Abaca Baking Company to provide breakfast for inhouse guests. Abaca Baking Company is one of my favorite Cafes in Cebu and I always make sure to visit the Cafe each time I travel to Cebu.
While enjoying the breakfast, the hotel staff brought our luggage to the lobby for a seamless check-in process.

As we whisk along the lobby, I am wowed with how they’ve incorporated a modern art deco design sensibility in each corner, from the sandy neutral interior, dramatic chandeliers and gleaming floors – this property is a work of art. We were even offered a welcome drink and seamless check-in followed after our hefty brunch.
Rooms
Through their 180 units, I got to experience how it felt to be living in a stylish room, but with such functionality. I get to have a full-service kitchen, a dining area, living room, and a bedroom with a huge TV. However, in selected residences, there is a built-in washer and drier for long-staying guests.

The room smells good and it has a very uplifting vibe. There’s a mini dining table, and some complimentary Cebu samplers like dried mangoes, otap, and coconut thins. There’s also no worrying f you run out of snacks or toiletries because Robinsons Supermarket is also available in the building.

Like any other hotel, they also have a coffee making facility, complimentary bottled waters, and a mini kitchen complete with cooking utensils.

What makes this hotel different though is that their sofa can be converted into a bed. See how it’s functional and stylish at the same time?!

Lastly, an en suite bathroom complete with bathroom amenities like a bidet, clean towels, hot and cold rain shower, and complete toiletries.
Food
After that unforgettable brunch at Abaca, I’ve looked forward to dining at Citadines ever since we arrived. The restaurant, located at the ground floor, serves breakfast daily, from 6 am to 10:30 am on weekdays and 6am to 11 am on weekends and holidays.

The restaurant offers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner for guests. You can choose from their array of local and western dishes which are all a must-tries. For those who just want to order ala carte dishes, here are some of our favorites:

- Luncheonette Burger – brisket, American cheese and ABC sauce with fries.
- Our Caesar – crisp bacon & parmesan anchovy vinaigrette.
- Smoked Sausages – french beans, mashed potato & roasted onion pan gravy.
- Winner Winner Chicken Dinner – fried chicken in country gravy with a side of a buttermilk waffle.
Hotel Facilities
Other notable facilities here at Citadines include their huge swimming pool and sun deck – a perfect location for unwinding after a tour around the city. There’s also the fitness center where guests can ask for personal fitness programs.

The hotel also has conference rooms for those who are planning an important event, business meetings, and seminars. It’s equipped with Audiovisual equipment and a fast wireless internet connection.

For complimentary self-service laundry, you can head over on the 9th floor where there are washing machines and a dryer for use.
Departure
Just like the check-in process, the check-out was pretty seamless as well. Upon departure, I surrendered my keycard and was asked how my stay was and double-checked if I left something behind. Overall, the hotel staff who assisted me from the moment I arrive until the departure was truly commendable.
