Hotel Review: Disney Explorer’s Lodge
For families and adventurers who would like to experience a different kind of Disneyland escapade, a vacation at Disney Explorer’s Lodge in Hong Kong Disneyland is just what they need.

As Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s (HKDL) (check rates) latest resort hotel, one-year-old Disney Explorer’s Lodge is a hit to adventure seekers and fans of Mickey and Friends with its one-of-a-kind exploration theme.
The Grand Era of Exploration
The Disney Explorer’s Lodge is lined with the story of explorers (Mickey the Explorer, Minnie the Adventuress, Goofy the Pilot and Donald the Bird Watcher) built a lodge based on their adventures around the world, including Mali, Papua New Guinea, Bali, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and the Ivory Coast. The place is said to be the haven for their own artifacts and specimens collected all throughout their trips.

To support the exploration story, the Disney Explorer’s Lodge features details of more than 1,000 artifacts and memorabilia displayed in different corners of the hotel. The artifacts include ceremonial items, antique toys, crafts, textiles, clothing and jewelry and can all be found on display at the lobby, guest rooms, restaurants, and kids’ corner.

One of the resort hotel’ distinctly exotic-themed feature is its four outdoor gardens namely Hathi Jr. Garden (Asia), Little Squirt Garden (Oceania), Kevin Garden (South America), and Rafiki Garden (Africa). These gardens lead to their corresponding hotel wings with the same theme.
Diversified dining
One can never run out of choices of food when inside the Disney Explorer’s Lodge. Chinese delights are found at the Dragon Wind, where Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie welcomes photos opportunities with guests.

International cuisine are found at the World of Color Restaurant while for those who would like to have coffee in the afternoon or just a laidback dining experience, the Chart Room Café is just a stone’s throw away from the entrance.
Guest rooms
Boasting of over 750 rooms, each unit allows great views of either the “Disney in the Stars” fireworks or overlooking the sea and view of gardens below. Elegantly designed with the lodge’s four exotic themes in mind, each room feature earthy patterns complemented with occasional animal prints.

Each room features a large mirror and a drum-shaped stool, while there are also four different types of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse tiki-styled masks on the headboards styled after each wing. Featuring an open room layout, each room has their bath separated from the sink and other bathing facilities.
Fun facilities
When done with touring around the gardens and filling in the tummy with delightful meals, guests can take a dip at the Rain Drop Pool while savoring the view of the South China Sea.

To bring home the Disney Explorer’s Lodge experience, guests can drop by The Trading Post, the hotel’s souvenir shop, where they can purchase over 20 exclusively designed exploration-theme items.
Truly built with having an exotic stay in mind, the resort boasts of Hong Kong Disneyland’s trademark of creativity and legendary guest service.
