Smart and PLDT SVP for Consumer Business Market Development Oscar Reyes Jr. said that the free access program will be beneficial to the company’s subscribers. He also expressed hope that the program will mark the start of other exciting and innovative ideas that will be part of Filipino’s digital lifestyle.

The free YouTube access program (link) is only available for prepaid subscribers for now. However, Smart is working hard to extend the service to postpaid users as well.

Smart takes video streaming seriously

The past few years has seen Smart invest heavily on LTE and 3G infrastructure. Because of this, the mobile data speed of smartphone users in the Smart network is faster than ever before no matter where you are in the country.

Part of the reason why users are experiencing better video and streaming experience is because of the deployment of LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) and Carrier Aggregation (CA) technology. This program has already been rolled out in major cities like Zamboanga, Baguio, Calamba, Cagayan De Oro, Dipolog, Ormoc, Tagbilaran and Bacolod. Smart also deployed 4CC in two cities in Metro Manila.
