Kaamulan Festival 2016 Schedule of Activities
Literally means “gathering,” the Kaamulan Festival 2016 of Bukidnon is set to be celebrated this coming March 1 up to April 2, 2016.

From Bukidnon hails the seven original tribes, namely Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon, that gather every Kaamulan Festival to commemorate the creation of the province of Bukidnon.
Accordingly, from the official webpage of Bukidnon, Kaamulan is a gathering of Bukidnon tribes people for a purpose. It can mean a a wedding ceremony, a thanksgiving festival during harvest time, a peace pact, or all of these put together. The festival is a showcase of various cultural rites and traditions that had been passed from one generation to another. This year will be the 102nd anniversary of the creation of the province of Bukidnon.
The Kaamulan Festival 2016 Street Dancing Competition, or Ikat-ikat Ta Dadalanun, will be held on April 2, 2016. Prior to the Street Dancing Competition, there will also be various events such as the Ethnic Street Dancing, Fireworks Display, Garden Show, Food Fest, Kaamulan Bazaar, Agri-Fair, and Live Stock Show. There will also be a Pamuhat, or a Bukidnon ritual of offering to the Deities upon entering an unknown place, especially forested areas. This is done before the Street Dancing Competition.
How to get to Malaybalay City?
Kaamulan Festival 2016 will be held in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. There are three ways to get to Bukidnon. The first option is by air. Ride a domestic flight bound for Cagayan de Oro City, then take a bus ride to Malaybalay, Bukidnon. Another option is to take a bus from Davao City through Salawagan, Quezon, Bukidnon. Travel time is around one and a half to two hours. The third option is travelling by sea, from the port of Cagayan de Oro City also.
Things to do in Malaybalay City
Aside from the Kaamulan Festival 2016, tourists may also explore and discover the beauty of Bukidnon while they in the area. Among these are the various spring resorts such as the Waterpool Resort and Monastery of Transfiguration. There is also the famous Two Trees Mountain and the Bukidnon Provincial Tree Park, a place to enjoy the scenic view of trees and ecological sights. The Two Trees Mountain is only a 30 to 40 minutes hike, depending on the pace of the hiker. One may also visit the pineapple plantations near Malaybalay, like the Lapanday Pineapple Farm and Del Monte Pineapple Plantation and Golf Course.
Various historical sites, like the Roxas monument as a tribute to former President Manuel Roxas and World War II Prisoners of War Memorial Shrine can be visited for history lovers. For picnics and other group activities, the Kaamulan Nature Park is a nice place for bonding and relaxation.
