HELLO STRANGERS!
Sinulog 2016 will be in two months and we still haven’t booked a 3-day weekend stay. Now, we’re off to check out some hotels near the vicinity of Mango Square, Cebu’s party district. The biggest festival in Cebu City will surely be a blast and we’re going to be dancing our hearts out. Imagine the trouble of going all the way home after an exhausting day with all the hectic traffic and jam-packed streets.
St. Mark Hotel Cebu City
Thankfully, we found a place to stay overnight that boasts of affordable luxury and 5-star amenities. Here are five more reasons why you’ll love staying at St. Mark Hotel in Cebu City:
1. Accessibility
St. Mark Hotel Cebu (hotel info) is situated just right across Redemptorist Church at a back road adjacent to St. Theresa’s College, St. Mark is right at the heart of Cebu City’s uptown district tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the nightlife scene. Walk a few steps and you’ll reach St. Patrick’s Square and Baseline’s new high-rise building full of shops (bookstores, restaurants, 24-hour convenience stores, cafes, a ticketing booth and many more).
Cards issued upon check-in
The Hotel is also an 8-minute walk to the route of Sinulog parade and events, Fuente Osmeña and General Maxilom Avenue. A few steps more and you’ll reach Raintree Mall and Robinson’s Fuente. Pretty convenient if you’ll be busy all day long and tired of walking far just to buy some needed supplies.
2. Modern Design
A boutique hotel with 5 star amenities, St. Mark Hotel Cebu (amenities) has a modern-look and intricacy.
I love the Space
Comfy bed

Hallways
Interior decoration
Lounging area
Checking out the atmosphere of its reception area and hallways, you’ll immediately notice the vibrant lighting at every nook, modern fixtures and see through glass walls with a great vista of Queens Road. You can’t help but take magazine-like photo shoots and selfies on the way to your room.
3. Value-for-money Accommodation
We stayed at its adequately-sized superior room good for two with clean bathrooms and ample closet space.
Superior room
Consumable Toiletries
The room is also complete with fully-functioning amenities: mini-fridge, HD Cable TV, iron and ironing board and iPod dock to name a few.
Ergonomic working space
HD TV and ample closet space
iPod dock with built-in alarm
As a travel blogger, an ergonomic working space with WIFI is very essential to my being productive. But because the bed was too inviting and comfortable to sleep in, I couldn’t help but lay around and watch TV all day. Laughs.
Immaculate restroom
Hot and cold shower
Ironing kit and safety deposit box
4. Hospitable Concierge and Staff
They were thoughtful, professional, and really hands-on to exceed guests’ expectations. Our check-in and check-out was also a breeze. Dining staff at Halo were also attentive to our needs and requests.
Reception
Special mention to Althia for going out of her way to entertain our queries.
5. Excellent Dining Options
Too bad we were not able to try Executive Chef Jeffrey Rivera’s best sellers on their ala carte menu but we had the heavenly buffet breakfast experience instead.
Halo restaurant
Bacon!
Buffet spread
Cereals with yogurt
From their 5 different kinds of cereals paired with strawberry yogurt, honey glazed pancakes to their mouth-watering tocino and bacon, the blue and white themed Halo never failed to impress.
Enjoying a hearty meal
Breakfast
Yummy pancakes
Though St. Mark Hotel Cebu (hotel reviews) aims of an excellent stay for their guests, no hotel is flawless and there’s always room for improvement. Based from our first-hand experience, we could suggest an upgrade of their room’s WIFI strength and connectivity. Being a hotel that caters to leisure and especially business travelers, working online and away from home is a must.
View from our room
Another recommendation would be to check the noise level of some of their air-conditioning units and to also sound proof the rooms a little bit more since the sound of doors closing on the adjacent rooms was a little unsettling. Overall, our Saturday night experience with the hotel was relaxing and rejuvenating. We really enjoyed our stay! There is a downside to being a guest of St. Mark Hotel—it makes you want to extend a few days more. Later strangers!
