Tian Tan Buddha
The Tian Tan Buddha is one of the most iconic monuments in China, and it’s a 23m tall seated representation of Lord Gautama. Although there are bigger statues in Hong Kong, none are as adored as the Tian Tan Buddha, as the entire statue is made entirely of bronze!
Weighing over 200 tonnes, the bell inside the statue rings once for each of the 108 ‘troubles of mankind’. To get a closer look at the statue, you’ll have to climb over 200 steps up the hill, but the view from the top is well worth the effort.
Ocean Park
If you’re traveling with your family to Hong Kong, there’s no better place to spend the day than Ocean Park. Not only is it the most visited theme park in the city, but it is also home to four giant pandas too! The park is split into two sections, the waterfront and the summit, and you’ll be able to find several rides, fanfares, and places to eat in each. The waterfront even boasts the Grand Aquarium, home to over 5,000 fish!
Hong Kong Disneyland
In late 2005, one of the world’s biggest theme park brands finally arrived in Hong Kong, attracting millions of yearly visitors. From Tomorrowland and Adventureland to Fantasyland and Main Street USA, there are plenty of places for your kids to explore, and just like the American versions, there are loads of great places to eat too!
Movie blockbusters like the Pirates of the Caribbean have their own rollercoasters, and your kids can meet their favorite characters walking along the streets. One of the best things about this theme park is the excellent transport links to the city, meaning you can come and go as you please. Hong Kong Museum of History
If you’re looking to learn about the history of China, then the Hong Kong Museum of History is the place for you. Located in the heart of the city, this museum is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Hong Kong, and from architecture to ethnography, natural history to music, you could easily spend an entire day here seeing all the fantastic exhibits. Free guided tours are also available, but be sure to get to the museum early in the morning to avoid the queues.
