Cosina Organica in Alegria Cebu
Looking for a decent restaurant with a view of the sea in Southern Cebu? Want to eat locally-sourced food cooked with organic ingredients? Want to satisfy your hunger without emptying your pockets? The King of Sinulog is off for a food trip at Cosina Organica.
Located at San Roque Poblacion near Alegria Municipal Hall and Heritage Park, read on as I share to you what this Filipino restaurant has to offer.
Getting There
From Mactan Cebu International Airport, hail a white taxi cab to Cebu South Bus Terminal and pay about PHP350 for more than an hour ride. Hop on a yellow Ceres Bus plying to Bato via Barili and tell the bus ticketer to drop you off at Cosina Organica, beach side 500 meters before Alegria Municipal Hall and pay not more than PHP150 for a 3-hour land travel.
Montañeza Hot Springs and Waterfalls in Malabuyoc
After lunch, we decided to check out Montañeza Hot Springs and Waterfalls in Malabuyoc for a natural hot bath. Hailing a tricycle, we paid PHP30 each from De Alegre Travellers Inn to the hot spring. Arriving at the destination, we each paid PHP20 for the environmental fee and off we went to try the three varying degrees of water temperature ranging from 35.8, 36.1 up to 42.6 degrees Celsius. It also has waterfalls accessible to the public. There are also open cottages for rent if you decide to bring food.. However, we decided it best to find a place to eat in Alegria proper. We hopped off at the Heritage Park and after asking the locals, we went to check out Cosina Organica.
Ambiance
From the highway, you’ll see a modern bamboo hut with a green signboard. There’s also a parking space good for 5 vehicles. The reception area was quite cramped since they placed tables and chairs that could accommodate 12 people in one setting. The kitchen, TV and restroom were also here.
However, we were delighted when we found out that they had an extension to the sea that could accommodate more or less 40 people in one setting. It was made out of bamboo and glass with plastic tables and chairs covered with table cloth. They also have relaxing music that blends with the sound of crashing waves. We were also fortunate enough that we were the only customers that time and it felt like we owned the place.
Food
Cosina Organica offers locally-sourced and organic Filipino Cuisine. They claim that they do not use vetsin (MSG) in their dishes. Their bestsellers include Pochero at PHP270, Caldereta at PHP170, Buttered Chicken at PHP200, Chopsuey at PHP120, Sauteed Shrimp with Garlic Sauce at PHP200, Tuna Carbonara at PHP240 and Sizzling Gambas at PHP250.
Price
A typical meal for two would cost around PHP300 with pork dishes at relatively cheaper prices. However, their plain rice is very expensive at PHP30 per dish. For the casual drinkers, their San Miguel Beer Grande costs only PHP80 paired with Sizzling Sisig at PHP120. Heaven!
Service
Their food preparation and delivery time averages around 20 to 30 minutes. Eating at the extension would make it hard for you to call the attention of the waiters. Better ask them ahead if you need anything like tissues, service water and others.
Overall, if you’re looking for a decent restaurant along the countryside with a lovely view of the sea serving delectable Filipino cuisine at affordable prices then Cosina Organica is perfect for you. Now, the King of Sinulog is off for another adventure. Later!
