Heritage Tour: Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar
The Philippines is now currently, a mostly modernized country with large new buildings and skyscrapers especially in Metro Manila, but in some parts the tradition and remnants from the Spanish colonialization still remains today, like in the Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar – a good place to visit if you want to experience a blast to the past and look around at old Spanish architecture and homes, as well as experience the culture and heritage of the country.

Located in Bagac, Bataan, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar (reviews) is an open-air museum and heritage park which is home to a wide variety of old-style houses that will make you feel as if you’ve teleported into one of Jose Rizal’s famous novels. The Las Cases is full of Filipino spirit and heritage, seeing as how it is full of old buildings and houses and is located by the sea. The area is good for pictures so you might want to bring a camera in order to snap the really picturesque view.

You really get to experience the Filipino traditions in this located, because some additional activities involve riding a kalesa, or a horse-drawn carriage, as well as to eat lots of traditional Filipino food which both locals and foreigners will be able to enjoy. Las Cases De Acuzar makes you feel as if you’ve gone back in time but still combines the elements of modern service. You will be served by individuals wearing traditional Filipino clothing so the experience feels all the more genuine. This reminds me of my time at Rizal Park Hotel.

What’s more, if you want to experience the Filipino ambiance and heritage for more than a day, you have the option to book a room because Las Casas also just happens to be a resort at the same time. It is quite different from a modern hotel, with old-style interiors and Spanish furniture but you will still get good service as expected from a hotel either way. By booking a room, you have even more time to explore and enjoy the sights and sounds of Las Casas.

To take pictures and bask in the history of Las Casas De Acuzar is all good and fine, extremely fun, but there’s more to Las Casas than just pictures and old houses. You can go on a heritage tour which will walk you through the area while you get to learn all about the past of the Philippines and the events that transpired during the Spanish colonization period. With the heritage tour, the old houses will be brought to life once you find out the unique and interesting history and architectural ideas behind them. There is a beach nearby as well if it’s calming water and sand that you prefer to spend your time on.

There are plenty of things to do in Las Casas De Acuzar, but one of the highlights of visiting the location is taking the boat tour. Here you will be taken out on a riverboat cruise around the entire Las Cases area, through the Umagol River. The boat tour is very relaxing and calm, not to mention the beautiful scenery–it makes you feel as if you’ve transported onto the Venice canal in Europe.

Overall, Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar is a great place to visit, not only for pictures but also for all the different and fun activities as well as the rich history and heritage behind the location. Be sure to bring a camera as you won’t want to miss the view, sights, and sounds–especially if you decide you’re going on that boat ride.
