#WalangPasok: Class cancellations on August 13, 2018 (Monday)
(Manila, Philippines) – Several schools and local government units in some parts of Luzon have suspended work and Classes on Monday, August 13. The class suspension was made due to heavy monsoon rains and massive flooding brought about by Southwest Monsoon.

Weather System: Southwest Monsoon enhanced by TS KARDING (YAGI) (Outside PAR)
Areas: Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Southern Zambales and Bataan
Impact: FLOODING in flood-prone areas.
Areas: Cavite
Impact: FLOODING is THREATENING.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting Pampanga, Batangas, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Quezon and rest of Zambales which may persist within 3 hours.
These information are based on current radar trends and all available meteorological data. The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions, MONITOR the weather condition and watch for the next advisory to be issued at 12:00 AM.

#WalangPasok: Agosto 13, Lunes
Department of Education (DepEd) Class Suspension Guideline:
- DepEd Calls on parents to determine whether their children should go to school during typhoons, floods and other calamities in the absence of official announcements from DepEd.
- In the absence of storm signal warnings, LGU are expected to announce whole day class cancellations not later than 4:30AM or half day class suspensions not later than 11:00AM.
- Storm signal warning declared by PAGASA between 10:00pm and 4:30AM reflect the whole day cancellation of classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.
- Storm signal warnings declared by PAGASA by 11:00AM automatically suspend the same day’s afternoon classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.
*Suspension of classes for the tertiary level (colleges and universities) will be at the discretion of school management.
