New retail, dining, entertainment, and lifestyle destinations are set to open in Iloilo, Sto. Tomas and Naga in the fourth quarter of 2026.
SM Prime Holdings, Inc. is strengthening its presence in key regional destinations by expanding three malls in Iloilo, Batangas, and Camarines Sur, adding approximately 70,000 square meters of gross floor area to its regional retail portfolio in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The expansion of SM City Iloilo North Block will add around 35,000 square meters of gross floor area.
The developments at SM City Iloilo, SM City Sto. Tomas and SM City Naga are designed to give shoppers and visitors more options for retail, dining, entertainment, wellness, and essential services. The projects will also bring new brands and concepts to their respective markets while creating additional opportunities for local businesses and communities.
“The cities of Iloilo, Sto. Tomas and Naga are major economic hubs in their respective regions, with strong potential to attract more businesses and investment,” said Jeffrey C. Lim, President of SM Prime.
He added that the mall expansions are intended to support local economic growth by providing opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), generating employment, and strengthening communities.
SM City Iloilo Adds a New Mixed-Use Destination
The largest of the three projects is the SM City Iloilo North Block, which will add approximately 35,000 square meters of gross floor area as part of a mixed-use development.
The expansion will provide more accessible covered, multi-level parking alongside new ground-floor retail spaces. Visitors can expect a broader range of essential services, medical and wellness facilities, specialty stores, a convenience store and cafés.
A National University (NU) campus will also form part of the development, adding an education component to the expanding commercial and lifestyle destination.
For travelers and residents exploring Iloilo, the additional retail and dining choices are expected to make the area even more convenient for everyday needs, leisure, and longer visits.
SM City Sto. Tomas Expands with New Third Level
In Batangas, SM City Sto. Tomas will gain more than 26,000 square meters of space through the construction of a new third level.
The expansion will introduce a wider selection of amusement concepts, restaurants, wellness establishments and retail stores, giving shoppers and families more options for recreation and dining.
A dedicated Trade Hall will also be included, together with co-working and meeting spaces designed to accommodate business activities, events and community gatherings. Visual installations will add another layer to the mall experience.
To support the mall’s increased capacity, additional surface parking will also be developed.
SM City Naga Gets Two-Storey Expansion
Meanwhile, SM City Naga will undergo a two-storey expansion covering approximately 9,000 square meters.
The project will add parking facilities and extend the roof deck while redeveloping existing tenant areas. These improvements are intended to enhance circulation and create a more comfortable and efficient experience for customers.
The redevelopment is also expected to provide additional opportunities for retail and lifestyle concepts as the mall continues to serve residents and visitors in Naga and surrounding areas.
Sustainability Built Into the Expansions
Beyond adding commercial space, the three projects will incorporate sustainability measures aligned with SM Prime’s environmental commitments.
The expanded facilities will feature energy- and water-efficient systems, solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and enhanced waste management facilities. These initiatives are intended to reduce resource consumption and improve the environmental performance of the malls.
The developments are also expected to generate new employment opportunities, with local residents being prioritized for jobs created by the expanded operations.
More Reasons to Explore Regional Cities
The upcoming expansions reflect the growing role of regional malls as more than shopping destinations. With new dining concepts, entertainment, wellness facilities, commercial spaces, and community-oriented amenities, the developments are positioned to become part of the evolving lifestyle landscape in Iloilo, Sto. Tomas and Naga.
For travelers, the expanded malls can also provide convenient stops for dining, shopping, and entertainment while exploring some of the Philippines’ major regional centers.
