Pearl Farm Beach Resort Review
There’s nothing quite like paradise. And fortunately, this-so-called paradise is just within our island. Just a 2-hour plane ride, and a 45-minute boat ride from the city proper – you’re off to a luxurious escapade you’ve never experienced before. If you think you’ve seen the best of the beaches here in the Philippines – wait until you step foot at one of the most beautiful hotels and resorts in the country – the Pearl Farm Beach Resort in Samal Island (resort info).
Aside from being the hometown of our President, Davao is also home to the kind and genuine Davaoenos, the freshest catch of tunas, the Malagos chocolate, and white sand beaches. There are lots of great hotels around Davao, but if you want to take vacation to a different level – then we recommend you visit Pearl Farm Beach Resort.
Pearl Farm Beach Resort (resort reviews) is the only 5-star beach hotel resort in Davao. It has a sprawling 14-hectare idyllic view of the calm Davao Gulf and here’s how to travel if you’re from Manila:
Usually, travel time will usually take less than 2 hours. Once you arrive, there will be a 10-15 minute drive from the airport to the Marina Wharf. This is where you’ll ride a boat going to the beach resort. Take note that the boat schedule is only from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. going to the resort, and if you plan on going back to the city, it’s 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. only. You can grab a coffee at Café Marina while waiting.
Experience the Mindanaoan Inimitable Hospitality
Just minutes before alighting our boat, we can sight the hotel staffs waving at us. We were welcomed by the staff’s warm smiles and served with complimentary drinks. We stayed at the first floor of the 2-storey parola to rest. The welcoming committee sure did prepare every guest arrival. There’s even a traditional performance with a kulintang as we rested. The weather was nice, just an amount of guests, tropical trees and white sand surrounding us – everything was perfect.
As we were about to head over at the reception lounge, we were amazed with the well-designed front office. The staff were so accommodating and they immediately requested for a shuttle service to give us a ride to our room. We passed by several facilities and various stilt houses along the way. There was a basketball and volleyball court, a clinic, and more villas.
Stay at One Of Their Most Commendable Rooms
Our pick-up service gave us a ride on our cottage, which was at the end of the island. Which was grand because we can enjoy the rest of the white sand all to ourselves. Suite!
There are no words on how amazing our room was. Talk about modern design meets traditional decors. On the outside, it’s just a simple nipa cottage, but surprisingly, the inside tells a different story. The room is well-decked, furnished with 2 beds and comfy sheets, a harmony of colors for a tropical vibe, surrounded by handmade Mindanaoan craft including the duvet, the curtain, and an all-wood ceiling fan.
Best part? The ocean view from our glassed window. I had never seen the Mt.Apo before, had understood its majestic view only on history textbooks. But with the view from our balcony of our room, it’s made placid by the calm waters of Davao gulf – it was divine. More likely, you’ll prefer opening the window and have an open-air room to let the breeze come in. Catch the amazing sunrise and sunset with your windows open! It’s an Instagram-worthy moment, I promise.
There’s also a cabled TV, a safety box, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, and complimentary drinks and chocolates.
Once you head over to the bathroom, you’ll see complete amenities and toiletries. It’s also equipped with warm and cold shower.
If you plan on traveling with your friends or family, Pearl Farm also has villas for large groups. You can choose to stay at the Malipano Villa which some of them has 3 bedrooms, and other has 4. They have a spacious veranda where you can hold a barbeque party if you like.
