“We found that often travelers may spend longer researching the perfect hotel than the actual length of their trip,” said Gerard James, Skyscanner marketing executive. “The Skyscanner Hotels app aims to make that research time convenient and pleasurable – giving travelers all the tools they need, in one place, to be able to make the best choice, confidently and without hassle.”

With its proprietary search function, Skyscanner’s Hotels app puts hotel photos at the center of the app’s comparison feature, and makes it easy to swipe through images without having to leave the results page. The app also offers tools that can add to a traveler’s decision making process, including a map view that shows lodging options by location and points of interest, a favorites feature allowing users to save options for a later decision, and a side by side comparison component to see how each accommodation measures up. The app also takes advantage of live room availability updates.

The Hotels app first launches on the iOS platform, with Android to follow shortly.
