Nico Bolzico plays barista for a day for Nespresso
I have to admit, I’m biased. I’m a Nespresso addict.
It’s just so convenient. When you’re in a hurry, about to catch a plane, or if you’re running late for a coverage – there’s nothing as quick and easy as popping a Nespresso capsule to your machine, press a button, and presto, you have delicious coffee.

That’s why we were excited to hear of a new trio of flavors for the plethora of yummy selections in the Nespresso capsule family – the Nespresso Barista Creations. The new flavors were unveiled at the Nespresso Boutique store in Power Plant Mall in Rockwell.

As an added treat, especially for the ladies, celebrity and all-around nice guy, Nico Bolzico played barista at the store for a day. Giving guests a taste of the new capsules, and also of his own creation – the Bolziccino.

“It was the first time I made a cappuccino in my life,” exclaimed Nico, when he was whipping up his coffee creations for the media guests. “Solenn is very impressed with Nespresso, not with me,” he quips.

Nico was particularly proud of his creation, “The Bolziccino,” and pressed a cup of it to all guests of the media event. The drink is a mix of milk, maple syrup, and Nespresso Corto, one of the new flavors from the Nespresso Barista Creations. The drink is light, flavourful (especially with the maple flavor, and is indeed surprisingly good.

The Barista Creations consist of three new flavors: Chiaro (which means “light” in Italian), Scuro (meaning “dark), and Corto (which means “short”).

The three flavors is a part of Nespresso’s new permanent coffee range. Barista Creations caters to different consumer taste profiles in a variety of recipes. With its three flavors, coffee lovers will be able to craft just the right blend of milk and coffee to suit their discerning palate. Here’s a description of the three new flavors from Nespresso:
- Chiaro: Inspired by Brooklyn baristas, Chiaro was created especially for smooth and sweet coffee and milk recipes. When milk is added to create a mild cappuccino, it unlocks sweet notes of caramel and biscuit.
- Scuro: Inspired by baristas in Melbourne, Scuro has the perfect balance between milk and roasted coffee notes. With milk, its profile remains intense and roasted, but balanced, creating a delicious strong cappuccino.
- Corto: Inspired by Spanish baristas, Corto has a powerful taste and a syrupy texture for recipes with just a little touch of milk. With a very dark, spicy, intense roasted, and smoky flavor profile, it’s ideal for the traditional Spanish cortado.
Nespresso Barista Creations are available at the Nespresso Boutique, R1 Level Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Makati, G/F, SM Podium G/F, Greenbelt 5 G/F as well as through orders from the Nespresso Customer Care Hotline (02) 477 7870 and online at www.nespresso.ph
