Manila, Philippines — The biggest food chain in Bicol, named Bigg’s Diner, is slated to open its first branch in Manila this November.
Specifically, this Filipino diner, which is already 36 years old in the Bicol region, will open its first branch at SM Fairview.
According to an article from Rappler, the diner’s bestseller is its savory one-piece crispy fried chicken.
Carlo Buenaflor, the Chief Executive Officer of this family-owned business, said that if you wish to grow big in the quick-service restaurant industry, it is a necessity to have this product as it is the most well-liked restaurant meal across the Philippines.
The restaurant was first introduced back in 1983 in Naga City. It grew from a burger takeout stall in the place.
The diner’s best selling point, according to Buenaflor, is its cooked-to-order meals served in bigger servings. He said in an interview that its chicken is 30 percent way bigger than “everybody else.”
“[W]e sometimes find a hard time looking for suppliers because they are used to serving the size requirements of the other food chain brands,” he quipped.
He said these characteristics that Bigg’s Diner is known for in Bicol are what the firm wants to bring to the table for its customers in Manila.
In terms of its store ambiance, the diner will use retro interior decorations.
At the moment, it now has 16 branches all-in-all. They are spread both in the Bicol region as well as in Batangas.
Now, in terms of its offerings, at the onset, said Buenaflor, the restaurant is going to offer the bestsellers – the meals that the diner were known for – which include burgers, fried chicken, as well as ribs.
On special occasions, the restaurant will offer Bicol dishes. In the long run, it will add more means – it depends on the responses of its consumers.
