After visiting Tikling Island, we headed to Juag Lagoon and Marine Sanctuary. There might be many places to think of when beauty and essentiality of marine world comes into mind but if you are in Sorsogon, you should not miss visiting this marine sanctuary.

Juag Lagoon and Marine Sanctuary aimed for aquatic life conservation

The Juag lagoon marine sanctuary was created by Alex Geneblazo who had the vision of contributing towards the conservation of aquatic species and marine environment by protecting several aquatic animals and plants in a sanctuary. He and his family are residing on the shore of the sanctuary and have made great efforts in providing the species healthy habitat and environment to grow and multiply.

To protect the variety of species enclosures of bamboo are built inside which the species move freely in herds. This sanctuary is nothing like a fish farm, the main objective of building it is to aware people to protect and conserve aquatic life.

Moreover the sanctuary is located amidst high tranquility sea because of the surrounding islands that contributes equally in conserving the marine environment of the area. Having a tour to the sanctuary will make you experience the significance of protecting the beautiful marine life.

Close to the wonder of marine life

Matnog being the last destination of Luzon Island before you cross the sea leading to Samar in the Visayas. This marine sanctuary showcases the beautiful marine animals and aquatic species with the purpose of helping the tourists understand the importance of marine biodiversity. Tourists are allowed to swim with the fishes and explore the marine eloquence being nearer to them.

Nature’s magical Diversity

While exploring the Juag Lagoon and Marine Sanctuary, the visitors are invited to enter the bamboo enclosures and then get the view of the underwater coral fishes, reefs and other aquatic weeds and plants. For a small donation, tourist can get a bowl of small fishes for fish feeding.

Visitors can choose to go around the sanctuary and view clearly the aquatic life preserved and they can also discover and explore the marine habitat by swimming underwater and experience aquatic fishes swimming next to them. The marine sanctuary holds marine diversity within the area and each species is contained in different enclosures of the sanctuary such as:

  • Group of Oysters
  • Giant Clams
