OPPO empowers the youth through Ideas Positive
Empowering the Youth in Project Management, Leadership, and Communication By Building Healthier Communities
For someone who have studied in another country or taken a road trip traveling around the world, you can easily say that traveling is one of the most self-expanding experiences that you can have. Traveling around the world for your own enjoyment and benefit is easy, but if you want to be accountable and want to try to improve a piece of the world, you can help other youth like the International smartphone brand OPPO.
OPPO believes in the power of the youth. The brand is now conducting its first CSR activity for the year. To power up the youth, OPPO teams up with Ideal Positive, also known as the Philippines’ premier youth engagement program for healthier communities. This is a program built by Unilab Foundation with the mission of building a healthier country.
OPPO Philippines made a donation of OPPO F5 Youth units that the youth teams can use during the boot camp at Camp Allen, Santa Cruz, Laguna. These units will be used by the participants when they are sharing their journey, capturing the best moments, and their experiences with their communities. OPPO Philippines’ goal is to aid the youth in spreading the innovate health solutions that Ideas Positive is implementing in these communities with the use of social media.
Alfred Dicto, the Project Lead for Ideas Positive, shared: “We are grateful that OPPO partnered with Ideas Positive. For the past years, majority of our participants use their own mobile phones in documenting their projects. However, not all of them own good quality smartphones that can take quality photos and videos. OPPO’s support this year is a big help to the youth teams in documenting their project implementation.”
Now on its eight year, Ideas Positive conducts a nationwide competition where different youth teams can develop their innovative solutions that aims to address the health issues in the community. Among the hundreds of entries received, seventeen teams were chosen for this year to participate in a three-day boot camp. Each team will learn the basics of project management, communication, and leadership. Each of them will be given up to PHP100,000 in funds to implement their project with their chosen community.
OPPO Philippines’ PR Manager, Eason de Guzman added: “OPPO believes that the youth plays a huge role in nation-building. We are glad to partner with Ideas Positive in supporting and empowering the Filipino youth. We have seen how enthusiastic and passionate the participants are in helping the communities. We hope that with OPPO’s support, the teams will be able to capture their best moments and share their wonderful stories and experiences with their communities.”
The teams that will come up with the best health outcomes will be announced in August 2018. They will be awarded with cash prizes plus smartphones courtesy of OPPO Philippines.
