Experience one of the World’s Best Hikes with guided tours of Hong Kong’s MacLehose Trail
While Hong Kong may be famous mainly for its busy city life, its countryside is stunningly beautiful as well. The magnificent parks, beaches, and mountains are a stark contrast to the vibrant urban space filled with skyscrapers and bright lights, and are steadily growing in popularity for their renowned beauty.

Earlier this year, National Geographic Magazine, a media leader in world geography and culture, listed Hong Kong’s MacLehose Trail in its “World’s Best Hikes: 20 Dream Trails”, confirming the magnificence of Hong Kong’s natural landscape. Hong Kong Tourism Board is organizing guided tours to allow visitors to experience the world-class hiking trail.
From November 2016 to March 2017, tourists can join the Great Outdoor Hong Kong 2016, where there are professionally guided hiking tours to explore MacLehose Trail. The entire trail covers about 100 km, from Sai Kung to Tuen Mun.
The tour focuses on the first section of the trail, taking participants to the famous, world-unique hexagonal rock columns in Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark of China, then to the awesome East Dam of High Island Reservoir, and finally a view to the beautiful Long Ke beach, hidden in the Sai Kung Peninsula. There are also other hiking and biking tours available, allowing visitors to explore the award-winning routes in the Hong Kong countryside.
Guided tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 November 2016 to 31 March 2017. Enrolment fees is HK$80 per person – inclusive of experienced hiking or cycling coaches, roundtrip transportation and equipment, if applicable.
