Best Restaurants in Pangasinan

As a Pangasinense, born and raised, I’ve had my fair share of good and bad restaurants in my province.

Food is important as it brings us satisfaction and joy. Moreover, the careful selection of which restaurant to eat at should always be practiced. In my own experience, bad restaurants bring distaste as well as blaming each other for choosing the restaurant.

Kainan ni Mang Peping

This is probably by far my family’s go-to restaurant whenever we’re out in the City of Dagupan. It is located along De Venecia Highway, which is an expansive highway that is surrounded by groves and the Bonuan River.

The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. There is a wide variety of food options to choose from, most of which are part of the traditional Filipino cuisine. Seafood served at Mang Peping’s is also fresh, considering the market for seafood in the City.

I recommend the 99-peso lomi in a large bowl that tops all the other lomis I have ever tasted. Don’t forget to get a taste of their palatable and clean-broth Sinigang that is a signature in this restaurant.

The main feature of this restaurant is that each table is on a bahay kubo. Some kubos are suspended on top of the clear waters of the Bonuan Rivers. I don’t recommend dining on the bahay kubo at night, however, as there are a lot of mosquitos. You may dine on their air-conditioned hall instead.

Jech’s

Jech’s is a restaurant and bakeshop that is located in Calasiao, Pangasinan, which is a neighboring town of Dagupan City. When traveling to the Western part of Pangasinan, my family always stops by this restaurant for lunch.

The food here is tasty and worth all your money. They have an expansive menu that you can choose from, and they will cook it for you. If you are in a hurry, there is usually a selection of pre-cooked meals that are displayed by the counter.

I recommend getting their Halo-halo that is complete with components and toppings. As well as their lengua ox tongue.

Customer service is not the best, however, especially when the restaurant is packed. Waiting time is usually between 30-45 minutes. However, if you can get past that, the food is certainly delicious and worth it.

Matutina’s

Matutina’s is known for serving a wide variety of dishes featuring fresh seafood that comes in the ports. There are two branches of Matutina’s—in Dagupan City and in Urdaneta City.

Since Pangasinan is a seafood province, it only makes sense to dine at a restaurant that offers the best seafood that you can taste.

While Matutina’s is definitely expensive, the quality of the food makes it all worth it. I recommend to order the buttered shrimp, if they have it on their buffets that day.

The ambience and customer service for Matutina’s is also high-end and relaxing, which makes dining here the perfect experience.

Sungayan Grill

Sungayan Grill is a floating restaurant in Bolinao, Pangasinan. It’s certainly one of a kind as not many floating restaurants are in the province.

They offer seafood that is exquisite, delicious and fresh. Seafood is oftentimes a hard cuisine to get right, especially if the cooking is wrong or the seafood is not fresh. However, in Sungayan Grill, the food will not disappoint you.

Bolinao is the same town that is known for its Falls, Patar Beach and Lighthouse. That’s why visiting this floating restaurant is definitely worth it with the nearby tourist attractions.

Papa Dong’s Cine-Resto

Papa Dong’s Cine-Resto exactly what its name says. It’s a cine-resto. While dining on delicious Filipino lutong-bahay food, you can view the films that they are showing that night.

It’s definitely an interesting experience and concept. However, outside of that, the food is definitely satisfactory and worth every peso. Prices are not too expensive, but just reasonable.

This cine-resto is located in Ramos Street, Lingayen, Pangasinan, and is a 10-minute ride to the famed baywalk of Lingayen Gulf.

With this list of the best restaurants in Pangasinan, you will certainly be satisfied in terms of food for your next trip here.
