Celebrating Asean Day
Commemorating the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations which was signed in Bangkok on the 8th of August 1967, AirAsia gives a nod to 49 years of solidarity between the different Asian nations.
According to AirAsia’s Group CEO Tony Fernandes, the promotion is a small thank you to the region that nurtured the dreams of making air travel possible through more affordable costs. With AirAsia inspired by the growing ties of countries within the continent, the freight company maintains a high quality of air travel standards even as it continues to spread its wings to different parts of the world, including the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and hopefully – beyond that.
“AirAsia is proud to be the only airline that flies direct to all 100 Asean nations.” says Fernandes. “We are also the only airline with an Asean Pass product, which gives our guests a convenient way to explore our network and experience the region’s incredible diversity and amazing cultural heritage.”

Those who have an AirAsiaAsean Pass and AirAsiaAsean Pass+ can go on flights going through more than 120 routes in the continent at a fixed rate. Think of it as a highly convenient free-pass ticket that lets you make those country-wide jumps.
Beyond Asia
Although the airfare isn’t as largely discounted as the other flights, you’ll be glad to know that AirAsia extends their promo to other destinations. More specifically, you can check out flights to North Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and even Australia to find the lowest fares for your 2016 travel adventure.
Remember, 2016 is just the 49th year of the Asean Day celebration with 2017 marking the 50th year since the agreement between the Asian countries was celebrated. With AirAsia already providing a BIG sale for the 49th anniversary, who knows what else they’ll be giving away once the 50th comes along?

That’s still a long way from now though! For the meantime, make sure to plan your flights now and see a little bit more of the world!
