A first in the Philippines: Netizens choose Cebu Pacific’s next destination
The leading airline in the Philippines, Cebu Pacific Air (PSE: CEB) has officially announced the ten most requested local destinations that millions of netizens who participated in the #CEBFlyMeTo campaign choose. This breakthrough campaign utilized the power of crowdsourcing in finding out from the netizens which are the destination in the Philippines they would like Cebu Pacific to fly next to.
#CEBFlyMeTo also aims to bring communities together in voicing out their thoughts and in pushing for their hometowns to become of the airline’s destinations. With more than two million netizens who watched, reacted, shared, and commented with the #CEBFlyMeTo since the campaign’s official launch in late 2017, Cebu Pacific now has the top destinations list.
Announced through their official Facebook page, the ten most requested destinations are Bantayan Island, Cebu; Daet, Camarines Norte; Lal-Lo, Cagayan; Basco, Batanes; Bislig, Surigao del Sur; San Vicente, Palawan; Marinduque; Maasin, Southern Leyte; and Siquijor. These destinations are now being checked for the feasibility of mounting commercial flights using different criteria like the state of the airport, market readiness, related infrastructure, safety, and security of the areas.

This means that if all criteria are met, Cebu Pacific could fly to any of these breath-taking destinations soon. Cebu Pacific has also several brand-new aircrafts set to be delivered in the coming months. From 2018 to 2022, the airline expects to deliver seven brand-new Airbus A321ceo, eight ATR 72-600 aircraft, and 32 Airbus A321neo.
Vice President of Marketing and Distribution, Candice Iyog, said, “We want to engage with Filipino travelers and give them the opportunity to be part of our planning process as we continue to connect the Philippine islands and offer the lowest fares. We are now in the process of reviewing the operational viability of flying to these destinations.”

The #CEBFlyMeTo campaign was inspired by an online petition spearheaded by residents and the local government of Masbate to start commercial flights to the island in 2016. After technical checks and feasibility studies, Cebu Pacific officially launched commercial flights between Masbate and Manila in February 2017.
Today, Cebu Pacific has 18 flights weekly between the island. The online campaign allowed Masbateños to contribute to the province’s economic growth by helping in opening more doors of opportunities for tourism and business.

Cebu Pacific was also the first one to start commercial flights to destinations that are now becoming tourist areas such as Camiguin, Siargao, and Virac.
