Every Year, Davao Bloggers are inviting foodies from all over the Philippines to join the yearly DFAT (Davao Food Appreciation Tour) event. I was able to attend the same event few years back and I had a wonderful experience. I don’t really have plans to attend the event this year due to my work schedule but since I just resigned from my day/graveyard job, I decided to join to meet old friends and new bloggers as well. I signified my intention to join and I was luckily included on this years DFAT 2012 participants.
Merienda Cena at Rancheros
I arrived early so I decided to go first to Green Windows Dormitel to check in and prepare for our first gathering. I did not pay attention to the itinerary and because of too much excitement I went to the wrong venue… The Rancheros branch in Torres street LOL.
Davao Crocodile Park
After realizing that I was in the wrong place, I proceeded to Ranchero’s at the second level of Abreeza Mall for the event Briefing, Introductions, and Merienda Cena. They served some of Pinoy’s favorite Merienda like Suman sa latik, Puto Maya, fresh lumpia, Dinuguan with Puto, Tibok Tibok and Pancit Guisado.

I love their Pancit Guisado and their uber creamy Tibok-Tibok – a delicacy which literally means heartbeat.

Tibok Tibok is similar to Maja Blanco but the later uses Coconut Milk and not the usual Carabo Milk. (Ranchero : 3rd floor, Roof Garden, Abreeza Ayala Malls, Davao City (082) 225-1199)
Albino Python at Davao Crocodile Park
After our short stop, we headed to the Davao Crocodile Park located along the Ma-a Diversion Road. It was my first time to visit the park and I was amazed to see some of the wild animals interactively playing with tourists but of course the small crocodile has a protective plaster in his mouth and the baby tiger was accompanied by its caretaker.

The Davao Crocodile Park is open from Monday to Sunday (Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM)

I was able to have photos with the huge Burmese Python, albino python, tiger cub and the baby crocodile. After our short acquaintance with the crocodiles (not the one in the senate), we headed to the nearby Tribu K’Mindanawan to watch the spectacular Fire Dance Show.

Our Dinner was hosted by Lachi’s – my favorite restaurant in Davao. It’s my fourth time visiting this restaurant and Im always excited to eat my favorite Unforgettable pork ribs whenever Im in Davao City.
Laing Pasta
I was happy to see that the restaurant already expanded and they now have a bigger space to accommodate ever growing customers. As usual, a wide array of food were served which includes Breaded Soft Tofu with teriyaki sauce, Home style Beef Tapa, Fish Fillet with tartar sauce, Crispy Lechon Kawali, Oriental Fried Chicken, Unforgettable Pork Ribs, Chinese Pork Belly in Red Sauce, Beef Caldereta, Pork Marinara, Asian Spicy Chicken, Lemon Chicken, Callos, Meat Loaf, Laing Pasta and Spicy Laing.
Unforgettable Pork Ribs
I literally don’t know where to start, what to eat and which food to put on my plate. The choices are overwhelming and while everything they served are exceptionally best tasting, my favorite would be their Unforgettable Pork Ribs (Yes Paulit-ulit ako), Beef Caldereta, Callos (new discovery) and their Spicy Laing. I really wish they have a restaurant in Manila… if that happens, you know where to find me:)
Macarons
Our dinner in Lachis will not be complete without a dessert and yes they served all kinds of desserts that they have in the Resto.. I lost count. I guess I was just like a growing pig who wants to sleep after each huge meal… HUGE MEAL…
Durian cheesecake and their Sans Rival is definitely my favorite. They are now serving French Macarons, though I think some of them are a little bit out of shape but it definitely taste good.
